FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start each new client relationship with a phone call or email, that typically leads to a one-on-one meeting with the new client and their pet(s). During this meeting, a pet evaluation will be conducted by the owner of PETS, Brandi Burket, Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer. Based on the service requested and the results of the evaluation, goals are set and a Pet Plan is implemented. Our Pet Plans are customized based on the needs of each individual pet and they are fun, informative, and help you meet the goals determined during the evaluation. If the request is for one of our Pet People workshops, an evaluation is not required.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer with 8+ years of experience teaching dogs of all size, breed, age and temperament. By utilizing positive reinforcement (NO fear, NO intimidation and NO force), I've taught basic obedience commands, tricks, housetraining and how to be a service and therapy dog. I've successfully modified behavior including reactivity to other dogs, separation anxiety, destructive behavior, uncontrollable on leash, phobias, low confidence, over exuberant behavior and barking. Commands and tricks I've taught include heel, sit, stay, down, off, wait, leave-it, come, shake, roll-over, play dead, dance, fetch, jump, fetch a drink from the cooler, weave between legs, take a bow, wave, bow your head and cover nose with paw.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As a lifetime animal advocate, I have always had a great respect and love for animals. While working at The Humane Society of Tampa Bay, I realized it was my calling to help people and pets live harmoniously together.
