An appointment was made for tonight at 5:00 PM. At 5:52 I sent a message through thumbtack and left a voicemail to see if he was just running late or had decided not to come. I got no response. At 6:15 PM I called a second time and did not get an answer. A few moments later I sent a text and finally got a response. He said he was presented with something and was going on a trip. There was a simple apology but not even an attempt to reschedule or refer to someone who could get my simple light installation taken care of.
I certainly understand personal emergencies. I have experienced them, but it is never appropriate in business to just not show up without notifying people who have committed and made arrangements in their day. It is unprofessional.
