Introduction: Ellis Editorial Services provides affordable and quality writing and text-based editorial services for small businesses and independent writers and artists. From local businesses looking to reach new clientele to the aspiring writer suffering from writer’s block, we seek to support hard-working individuals in their journey to success. Aside from our general editing services, we specialize in expository writing (personal statements, artist statements, manifestos, etc.), idea mapping for creative projects, and small-scale Spanish translation. We also provide educational services: reading & writing and Spanish tutoring and lessons on how to set up and operate professional social media profiles. We serve Torrington, Connecticut and the surrounding Litchfield County area. Amelia's Take: I enjoy the work I do because it's for a community that I believe in and want to see prosper. I've done everything from working in a corporate setting to small-scale tutoring, but what I really enjoy is having the opportunity to learn about others' aspirations and helping them achieve those goals with the skills I possess.

Ellis Editorial delivered very promising results helping me with my cover letter. In working with their founder, Amelia, I not only learned how to get to the point when discussing my achievements, I realized how valuable of an asset I am in the workplace and how I want to brand myself.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

M.A. Art Politics, NYU Tisch B.A. English/ Minor French, The College of New Rochelle

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Amelia's Take: *** I'm your typical story: ever since I was little I've been writing, but money was tight and being a writer was no way to make ends meet. But I took a leap of faith. *** Summary: In college I was a writing tutor, editor-in-chief and layout designer of the literary magazine, and it seemed like a job in editing should follow. After graduating, I landed a position as an editorial assistant at a mom & pop -- yet highly competitive -- educational publishing company. I was soon promoted to associate editor where I helped develop texts and teaching materials, working with a variety of writers and editors. I left my position there to attended graduate school, which included studying expository and grant writing, my writing and editing being put the test by some of the best professionals. Realizing how privileged I am to have this education, I am hoping to give back and help others achieve their goals, knowing what it's like to have a tight budget, but a lot of drive and a lot of dreams.
