FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every piano- and piano player- is different! Piano Tuning starts at $89, Piano Moving at $150.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start with a thorough assessment of the piano and a discussion with the client about their needs. An important part of my process is a realistic value judgment of your piano versus the cost of services. I will let you know the price up front and often am able to do the work at below estimate. Pianos hold physical and emotional value for many (myself included), and I truly enjoy helping musicians get the best sound possible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After moving to beautiful Tucson in 2000, I worked as an apprentice and subsequently a piano tuning specialist. I started J.P. Lawson Piano Tuning and Moving in 2014 with my wife, Hannah. I love what I do, and I love to learn about what I do. I enjoy studying about musical instrument history, acoustics, mechanics and performance as much as I enjoy playing the piano.
