Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: We take a personalized approach to nutrition and health that recognizes the uniqueness of each person's biochemistry. Functional medicine and nutrition eliminates symptoms by addressing the underlying or root cause of a problem. We become medical detectives first and foremost listening to our patients. We will educate on labs, genetics, conditions and tests available to each patient. In contrast to conventional care, which is almost entirely focused on managing symptoms or "bandaid approach". Functional medicine and nutrition is an evidence-based field of health care that views the body as an interconnected whole, enabling us to practice personalized medicine and empower our patients to take an active role in their own health.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and the rheumatologist told me the next step is to try medications until we find one that works. First one he was going to start me out with a low dose and ramp up to 800 - 1000 mg once to three times a day. I asked if diet/nutrition would help and if going to a dietitian was a good idea. Both the rheumatologist and my primary care physician told me no. Medication was my only option. After thinking about the potential side effects of the medication I decided to stop taking it and made an appointment with Nutrition Resources. I can’t say this loud enough...BEST HEALTH DECISION EVER!!! I met with Rachel and we discussed my diagnosis and my current symptoms. She had me complete a self evaluation that resulted in a total number of 72 (that number doesn't mean much if you have not completed this form). From there we made a plan. We decided to do MRT (look it up...awesome!!) to reset my system. I knew it was not going to be easy. But she was encouraging throughout the LEAP Protocol (the diet portion of MRT) and the bi weekly appointments helped keep me on track. By the end of the first three or four weeks or so that 72 dropped to 12 (if I remember correctly). In no time at all I was pain free and felt better than I had felt in years. Not only were the symptoms of fibromyalgia gone, but my blood pressure was better, mental acuity was sharper, and mood was great. Bonus...I lost over 20 pounds without trying!! Once I was beyond the LEAP Protocol I continued to go for monthly tune ups. That was an important step. We discussed nutrition and set additional goals. I started going to a functional medicine doctor that was willing to put diet and nutrition first in my treatment and care. Fast forward to early 2018. Like many people, things came up and life got busy. Add the holidays and the stress that goes with them...the wheels came off and the healthy eating lifestyle went out the window. Lately I found myself feeling sluggish and moody. Some of the joint and muscle pain has returned. And that big bonus 20+ weight loss, well I gained it all back. So I called to make an appointment with Rachel. I knew I had to get back on track. I tried doing so in December and January with little change in my eating habits. To be honest I felt somewhat embarrassed going in and explaining that I had gone back to many of my old habits. Fast food being the worst of them all. But there was zero judgement from her. Only encouragement and confidence that we will get back on track. We talked about what happened, how to get back on track, set some goals, and made a plan. What I have realized is I need to be accountable to someone to help me stay on track. Wife, family, friends...they all encouraged me and helped to a point. But going to Rachel every month to share my food diary makes me think about everything I eat. I pause to determine if it is a healthy choice (trust me, not all of them will be 100% healthy and that is ok). I have a health coach and for me it is what will keep me on the path of healthy eating. I hope this helps someone take the first step to better health. Remember folks...eat to live, don't live to eat.

I'm seeing Heather Alexander at Nutrition Resources. She's amazing! Very smart, thorough, laid out a plan for me, answers my emails within a reasonable amount of time, suggested doctors, etc. I'd definitely recommend Nutrition Resources without hesitation!! I love the functional philosophy they use of looking at the whole person, taking into account how everything in the body is connected, and looking for root causes.

Working with Nutrition Resources was life-changing for me. Jennette is part nutrition detective, sage, and wizard - she kept digging to find the root causes of my insomnia and exhaustion, and her help in identifying how to address those causes with nutrition was invaluable.
