We recently shopped for carpet for a small bedroom to be used as nursery and flooring for a huge foyer, office, and bathroom. We choose FCI.First, FCI carries quality products from Shaw. We didn't feel like we had to spend time weeding out undesirable products. Everything sample we looked at was certifiled with the green label plus for VOC emissions, and they were the only ones to carry a carpet pad that we felt comfortable putting in our newborn's bedroom. The larger flooring retailers did not have any understanding of our concerns, nor did they carry the products we needed. Second, no other place had as personal of a touch as John did. He talked with us, listened well, and did things efficiently but never made us feel rushed. He visited twice with samples and did a personal walk through after installation. We had some special requests such as airing out the carpet before installation, and he was very accommodating. He even returned to help us fix our doors when he noticed they were rubbing on our plush, new carpet; that was absolutely above and beyond anything I expected. We have never received such special treatment, and I have the feeling John was just treating us as he does all customers.He was also very upfront about costs. On his first visit, he measured the rooms and gave us a quote, educating us about all the little extras some places don't tell you about until later. Sure enough, when I visited a different locally owned flooring place, I was given an estimate that seemed lower, until I enquired about those extras, like pulling up and taking away the old carpet. The actual installation went smoothly also. The crew was quick, friendly, and experienced. They even noticed the leg on our changing table was loose and fixed it for us!We didn't get the hardwood flooring installed in the other part of our house, but if we finally do, we won't be shopping around; we will just call FCI of Vestal.

I had the pleasure of working with John from Floor Coverings International in Vestal some time ago for full house carpeting. It was so easy and convenient to choose samples right in my own home!! John was very knowledgeable and professional as he led me through the entire buying process! The carpeting was the high quality I prefer and the padding was perfect! Installation was very professional and timely! I was so pleased with the entire process that I called John back when my kitchen was ready for an update. I learned so much about kitchen flooring...the luxury vinyl tile I chose looks stunning in my new kitchen! I've had 2 projects completed by Floor Coverings International; hardwood flooring in my kitchen and carpeting the stairs and landing to my loft master bedroom. Both jobs were done well and promptly. John worked with me to determine the best product for each project. Having the material right there was extremely beneficial; so much better than getting samples and bringing them home. I definitely recommend them for your flooring needs.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We don't have any price gimmicks or "one week only sales". There are no "buy 2 rooms get 1 free" type of stuff. We simply offer the best products from the best manufacturers, using the most qualified installers, at an everyday great value. Our prices are always all-inclusive, with no change-orders. Once we give you a price, it stays that way even if your job becomes more complex once we remove your current flooring. There are no surprises, and you will not pay your balance until you are completely satisfied with result.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our process is really quite simple. During our appointment confirmation call we ask some detailed questions to get a sense for your lifestyle and personal tastes. With that information we will bring specific flooring samples out to your our free in-home flooring consultation where we narrow vast possibilities to a manageable selection of options that best fit your lifestyle, personal taste and budget. We do this because the best place to selected the colors and textures is in your home and not at our showroom.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The design associate that comes out to your home has been trained in helping our clients make informed decisions about selecting the best flooring solution for them. As you might imagine not every flooring product is designed for every application. For example, although hardwood is very beautiful, it does not tolerate high moisture environments and can be easily damaged if exposed to high levels of moisture. Carpet, tile, vinyl, laminates and wood all come with a set pros and cons. Let us help you with find the right choice for you.
