My experience from start to finish with Jack was fantastic. My brother and I who live out of state hired him as a surprise present for our mom for her birthday party to capture the day with her family and friends. Communication with Jack was easy, he showed up right on time, and he did a fantastic job of covering the day - capturing lots of great portrait and candid moments and putting all guests at total ease and blending right in with the fun. He was a joy to have there! I just looked through the photos with my mom who is beyond thrilled to have so many memories beautifully captured from that day, including ones with her 95-year-old aunt. I know she will cherish all of these forever. For something truly priceless, Jack's rates were incredibly reasonable and the level of his work was wonderful. Highly recommended by me and my mom!Jul 28, 2018Verified
We had our family portraits taken by Jack in Central Park and we had an awesome experience with him. We have a 2.5 year old and a 9 month old baby and they weren't the always cooperative during the shoot, but Jack was super professional and patient with our kids. He suggested great spots for our photos to be taken and they came out great. He also suggested poses for us, which was helpful as we have no idea what we look like on the other side! We really enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend him to others.Nov 15, 2016
Jack has an incredible attention to detail and he plans meticulously all his shoots. He leaves nothing to improvisation but is ready to do so if necessary. Makes you feel at ease when shooting your portraits as well as understands what you are after when getting your architectural or product shots. He works very well accross a variety of disciplines and delivers outstanding results. He is very creative and has a very well trained eye for photography. I am very happy to have worked with him.Sep 24, 2016
Highly Recommended He is an artist and very professional. He is very reliable. I'm not a model but he brought out great qualities in my photos that really made me look very glamorous and beautiful. He really captured the essence and best part of my personality. I would recommend him for any job because you will get high quality photos. I needed photos for online dating and he is truly the best at what he does.Apr 10, 2017Verified
Had agreed to have Jack do our photographs for our wedding and had been in correspondence via email with him several times between booking and the event. Received an email the night before saying that it wasn't confirmed and unless confirmed by 11pm that night woukd be a cancellation! Night before wedding you are not going to be checking your emails. Jack was a no show despite having been in contact with him a few days prior giving details of locations the photos were to be taken in. DO NOT BOOK THIS MAN IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT PHOTOGRAPHS!Mar 3, 2017VerifiedJack Soltysik's reply
James stopped communicating with me about 45 days prior to his event. Our last communication together was an email from me to James on January 17, describing the pros and cons of shooting at various different locations. James never responded. If James was in contact with someone, like he says, a "few days prior giving details of locations the photos were to be taken in" - he must have texted or emailed or Thumbtack-messaged the wrong person. This review is the first message I have received from James since January.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? My client's satisfaction comes first. People can expect: fast responses, clear and detailed information, and high quality images.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am a member of Professional Photographers of America.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I bought my first camera on January 12, 2012 - a historic day in Chinese history. Beijingers call it "The Airpocalypse." The air quality index used to be reported on a scale of 0-500. On that day it hit 772. I couldn't see across the street. And at that point I wanted to start recording my experiences in China. I started a website and was quickly recruited by several papers for contract work. And that's how my photography business began.
