tl;dr - Derek consistently does outstanding work and customizes the session for you as a whole person - mind and body. I am very picky about who I see for massage. Therefore, as long as Derek is within driving distance (3 hours or so), I will continue to go exclusively to him. Think of all the things you want in a massage, and that is what you'll get: professionalism, relaxation, education, healing, and above all else - high quality body work. Derek is extremely observant and will notice subtle nuances, such as imbalances in your posture as well as changes in your breathing during the session. In my opinion, this is what makes him such a great therapist. In combination with a personalized discussion of your needs, these observations are the key to customizing a session unique to you. He excels at soothing relaxing massage as well as deep tissue for sore muscles and tight fascia. Afterward, he'll take the time to answer any questions you have and can recommend stretches and exercises to get you through to the next session.

I typically find massages from males to be too harsh leaving me sore and uncomfortable. Derek provided a balance of force which left me relaxed and rejuvenated. I even felt taller afterwards!

Derek is awesome. Great massage and experience all around. Your comfort is his priority -- he will focus on any problem area you have and still make time for a whole massage. I also love that if you want to talk through your massage, he is great to talk to. If you're not a talker, neither is he. It's all about what you want. Another benefit, no fake nature sounds. I won't go to anyone else.
