Tailored To You Designs
About this pro
I was a grooms woman in my cousin's wedding this past weekend, and enlisted the help of Mary to take out my dress, as the dress I had to wear ran small! She came up with a creative and life-saving solution that turned out beautifully in pictures! Thank you, Mary for your promptness, professionalism and fantastic talent! Would absolutely recommend for your tailoring needs!May 21, 2018Verified
I was very happy with the workmanship, and surprised at how quickly the alterations were completed. Tailored To You Designs contacted me within 10 minutes of my request.May 4, 2018Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I always try to be fair and charge the lowest possible price while still covering my overhead and living expenses. I love what I do and am more concerned about my customers being satisfied, feeling that they receive good value for what they pay me.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I usually first reach out to you to reassure you that I am listening and ready to help you. At that time I initiate a meeting so that we can discuss the project in person, if possible. On most projects, I wait to quote a price after I evaluate the scope of the work, rather than in your initial Thumbtack quote, so that it is more accurate and fair for both of us. I find out a deadline if there is one, or let you know my time line on current work and when yours will be completed. If it is a large project with materials I must purchase, I will usually collect a deposit up front. The balance is due upon receipt. I am always willing to give you a progress report and send photos, if possible. Just call or text me.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Growing up and working my whole life in home furnishings industries allowed me training and expertise in upholstery, window treatments, window blinds/shades/shutters, fabrics, industrial sewing, furniture construction and interior design. A fine and applied arts education has equipped me with knowledge of writing, graphic design, digital illustration, page layout, photography and photo editing, color theory, painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, pottery, woodworking and art history. Work experience, both self-employed and for retail shops has taught me tailoring, alterations, sewing techniques, garment construction, historical dress and military insignia, pattern making and textile conservation. Working in quality control and the hospitality field developed valuable skills of organizing both spaces and people to achieve goals and resolve issues; to consistently follow up and report on them; to manage time effectively and meet deadlines. I have also taught pottery, sewing, quilting, housekeeping, hotel guest room maintenance and computer skills.
