Hntsa was very patient, knowledgeable and sensitive to the educational development of our student. She clearly demonstrated an increase in her ability to comprehend and work through difficult cognitive processes. I would strongly recommend Hntsa for hire as a tutor.Feb 1, 2017Verified
Excellent at first reviewing the concepts of learning then establishing a foundation where my son could understand the fundamentals of each subject for preparing for to take the ACT.Jan 25, 2017Verified
Hntsa was a wonderful tutor! I had only one month to prepare for my final ACT. In the beginning, he told me that the amount of time we had was probably too little but he would try his best to make it work. He took the time to work with me and make a personalized plan. We switched some things around to utilize the short amount of time because that was what was best for me. Every session Hntsa went above and beyond, working to make sure I understood what I needed to work on and how to navigate the test. Not only did he help me academically, but he was also very supportive and encouraging. Hntsa led me in the direction I needed to go. In the end, my confidence increased and so did my test score. (by 4 points!!) I would recommend Hntsa to anyone in need of a tutor.Jan 18, 2017Verified
If your looking for a great tutor look no further! We picked Hntsa to help our son increase his ACT score two points to help him qualify for an academic scholarship. Two points isn't a huge jump, but we only had five weeks to prepare and the last two ACT tests resulted in the same score. After reading Hntsa's background information and reviews we decided to give him a call. It was the best decision we ever made. Hntsa is intellectual, methodical, patient, and insightful. He took the time to really understand our son's strengths and weaknesses so that he could use that information to develop a tutoring plan that was specific to our son. The resources that he had available were abundant up to and including a watch to help keep track of time when doing a practice a test or taking it live. Hntsa also understands how the test is put together, how it works, and the best way to attack it. He also know how to speak to teens in a way that is not condescending. Our son increased his composite score by three points and his STEM score by four! Now, our son put in a lot of effort to get that score, but he never would have done it on his own. We already tried. He needed someone like Hntsa. A tutor that was genuinely interested in him not just as a student, but as a person. It's rare to find people who love what they do so much that their enthusiasm rubs off on you! That's what happened with my son and I think the learning lessons that Hntsa gave my son will stay with him beyond the ACT test. We are eternally grateful for everything he did. You will be too.Dec 24, 2016Verified
My son was tutored by Hntsa Asgedom in hopes of improving his ACT score. Well Hntsa not only helped him to achieve his goal of improving his score, but also taught him valuable skills in regards to test taking that he never was taught or learned in high school. My son came home with such a positive and encouraging attitude after each session and Hntsa has taught him skills that he will now carry with him to college and beyond. I just wish that we would've found Hntsa earlier on so we could've had more sessions with him. I have a daughter that will be a junior in high school next year and she will be preparing for the ACT. I will absolutely, without a doubt be using Hntsa for her and will refer him to anyone who is looking for an amazing tutor for their child/children.Nov 23, 2016Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I have a 10 session curriculum that I have successfully implemented in a variety of settings. This is usually 2 sessions for test review, and 2 sessions for each of the 4 main subject areas. Some students may require more sessions to get through that material and take ownership of the strategies. If serious gaps are identified in any one subject area or students are particularly ambitious about a significant score increase than more time will more likely be necessary.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I try to get a complete picture of the student's academic profile and commitment level before we begin. This will usually involve speaking with an adult in the family about that student's experiences with schooling, academics, extracurricular activities, and work. Unless we are setting up a last minute flurry of sessions before a test, the student will usually take a full out practice test before our first session. Our first meeting will usually be a consultation around that initial test. After that initial session, we have a discussion about whether or not it is a good idea for us to move forward in this process. I try to identify win-win situations, and an initial session will make it clearer whether or not it will be a win-win scenario. This process will help me to confirm how/if I can provide value; it will help the family to make sure that they see value in the services I provide.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have successfully partnered with a variety of students and families through the test prep and college preparation process since 2009. I have a Masters in Education where I have recieved extensive training on instruction and the nuances of being an educator. I have worked in private, public, and charter high schools under the guidance of more experienced instructors and supervisors. I have apprenticed under highly experienced tutors, and owners of exceptionally well run companies as I have tutored hundreds of students for the ACT and SAT. I have taught numerous test prep courses. Some of these courses have been designed by others, and other courses I have designed and successfully implemented on my own in collaboration with various institutions that had specific needs. I also have been mentoring teens for over ten years in academic, social, and career focused settings in groups and individually. I have been groomed and thrived in a variety of test prep and college prep settings: working for national franchises, local test prep companies, and local school districts and colleges as a tutor, essay advisor, college scholarship and application coach.
