Introduction: I believe that music is vitally important to your event, it is a major factor in making it a success. Whether it be a wedding, reunion, company function, backyard barbecue or any kind of private party, my goal is to create the right mood and ambiance for your celebration to be memorable! My passion is music but my mission is creating a memorable event! Every event is unique as you are! There are no cookie-cutter playlists! I have over 25 years of experience, with over 30,000 songs in my personal inventory! My collection spans 100 years of music for parties of every kind and size (25 to 250). Weddings, company functions, reunions, and themed parties are my specialty! I am also subscribed to Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music so I have access to millions of songs. Some of the unique weddings that I DJ'd in 2021 include: -) An all 80's power rock / power ballad reception. -) A bride wanted none of the overplayed, 'trite' 20 songs that you hear at most weddings (including Love Shack, YMCA, Don't Stop Believing, line dances, etc) ... and the dance floor was still packed! -) Another bride wanted a 'swing' affair - old fashioned Glenn Miller / Andrews Sister plus NewWave Techno Swing -) Another bride wanted no songs released prior to 1990, another wanted absolutely no slow songs, and yet another wanted a heavy metal event! -) Other events included a 50th class reunion, a 75th birthday party, an 18-year-old Marvel themed party and a 50's style "Happy Days Are Here Again" when Covid restrictions were lifted. I'd love to hear what the plans are for your reception / event! I can make it a night you'll remember! Putting a smile on everyone's face and keeping the dance floor packed and moving is most important. If you are looking for a club-style DJ with ear-pounding bass mixes or scratching -- that's not me. But if you want a throwback style DJ that remembers you are the star at your wedding or if you need an emcee for your reunion / corporate event without the 'cheese' of an "are you ready to rumble" announcer, then read on... I hired John for my birthday party. From the start, he made sure that he had the songs that I wanted-even the ones that were not usually played at functions. The communication prior to the party was great. He was at the hall and all set up before I even got there. Tables needed to be moved to create a dance floor which he took care of. He kept the music going with a variety of music that we all loved. He didn't mind the requests from my guests for country, swing, salsa, waltzes, and even the Hora. EVERYONE had a great time. Even our bartender asked about him and said that they may hire him for other functions they have there. I am sorry that this site only allows three options because if I could, I would also include the other two-Value, & Punctuality. If I ever am in need of a dj again, I would hire John again in a heartbeat. Thank you, John for making my party wonderful!

John J Entertainment joined us at our reception in June of 2023 at Sugarbush Resort in Warren, VT. He and his son were great to work with! They were very detailed; I completed a questionnaire packet that covered basically anything you could think of - what genres of music you want played throughout the evening and when, what types of announcements needs to be made and when, which party dances (macarena, electric slide, etc.) you'd like to play and when, etc. After the questionnaire, John and his son also took time to get to know me and what I wanted over Zoom calls. They made me feel very comfortable that they will do whatever you want or need for DJ requirements/requests. They were also incredibly flexible, and willing to change up playlists on the fly if it was needed (it wasn't, but it was nice to know that was available). On top of the great service leading up to the event, they were incredible day-of. Punctual, responsible, attentive, professional, and just lovely to work with overall. The price was extremely reasonable, to boot! John even has a discount system, which was really nice (every penny counts when you're planning a wedding, amiright?). I would recommend John J Entertainment for your DJ needs!

John was so warm and agreeable (as was his son). He is extremely responsive and was able to accommodate a significant change in our ceremony technology (officiant got covid 2 days before wedding so we asked him to set up a system to project the audio/video of a recorded speech). At the reception, his suggested games went over great and a few people at the wedding asked for the playlist. It was also really nice because he didn't talk much - just let people dance and played the whole song (no awkward annoying mash ups or jarring song changes). If you are looking for a straight-forward, easy to work with dj, he is the guy.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our all inclusive price includes: SIX HOURS of ceremony and music, free lighting, free second sound system for ceremony use at an arbor/gazebo, no mileage charge, three wireless microphones! At the ceremony, everyone hears the officiant and the wedding couple. I also offer up to $200 in discounts (See below). In addition, I have THREE hours of backup power, so the party can continue, if the lights go out! Currently, our MAXIMUM wedding price for 6 hours is: $1,950. We have 7 discounts which can reduce the price to $1,750 Our price for non-weddings is flexible -- please call -- but the average is about $125 - $150 per hour depending on several factors and discounts. Discounts Available (up to $200 total) Charity events: $100-$200 Military or first responder: $50 Other discounts for party size, location, venue, milestone celebrations, intimate party size (
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1) An initial phone call to collect information about the venue, event, music desired and potential additional equipment (Karaoke, dry ice) and other associated events (rehearsal dinner, post party, etc) I DO NOT use a cookie-cutter thumb drive from someone else's wedding. You are unique, your tastes are unique, your wedding should be unique. 2) I then assemble various playlists for cocktail, dinner, and dance hours and schedule a follow-up meeting. I prefer this follow-up to be face-to-face but it can be done by phone. When face-to-face we can have fun sampling the playlists and adjust the amount of music style (country, oldies, power 80s, hip/hop, dance, pop, etc). 3) If at a venue, I schedule a walk-thru so I can ensure I will have any necessary equipment to fit within the stage, etc and that they allow such equipment as a dry ice machine. I have 3 sizes of equipment, ensuring the appropriate size for the venue
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been performing wedding and event DJ services for over 20 years. I have hosted events at GE and IBM as well as dozens of weddings, parties and reunions. I hosted a radio show for four years in high school and college and have done commercials for radio.
