Introduction: I have been a massage therapist since 1990. I have over 1,000 hours of advanced training in several modalities, including medical massage, Swedish massage, myofascial release, deep tissue massage, oncology massage, orthopedic functional assessment, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral, acupressure, shiatsu, and positional release as well as isolated active stretching. In addition, I have advanced training on specific conditions such as cancer, fibromyalgia, post-traumatic stress disorder as well as using massage to speed recovery from surgery.
I was president of the Delaware Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association for 6 years, during which time Delaware passed some of the most comprehensive legislation in the nation.
I'm committed to evidenced-based therapies, that is, therapy that works, that is proven to be effective and not just something that is just wishful thinking. This is why many of my clients are other health care professionals such as physical therapists, chiropractors, nurses, and of course, other massage therapists.
I absolutely love massage. I know that, in the right hands, it is very safe and can be quite effective.

The Massage Coach (Joe) is one well trained, and disciplined massage therapist. His knowledge of the musculoskeletal structures and related nervous system is extensive. His ability to determine and apply specific massage techniques for individual symptoms is remarkable. Both my teen-age daughter and myself have benefitted greatly from his skills. I strongly recommend his practice to anyone seeking a reputable and professional therapist.

Excellent evaluation of problem and effective treatment. Explains what patient can do between treatments. Effective in focusing on problem area. A good communicator who listened to needs of patient. A great help to me when other health care professionals had no other options to offer but pain Meds

I was having debilitating headaches almost daily for several months. After all sorts of interventions my doctor said that he thought muscle spams in my neck were triggering the headaches.
Joseph did deep muscle massage, which I usually wouldn't like. However this time i was thrilled with the results.
He warmed the muscles before going in and went one layer at a time. HIs work was not painful. He disrupted the pattern of neck spasms and the headaches. I am so grateful.
I so appreciate his detailed knowledge of the body, its parts and how they interact. He is a gift and has given me back my life.
