Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: With so much information available, learning guitar can seem complex, difficult and overwhelming. By focusing on effective learning strategies, or “learning how to learn” it doesn’t have to be. This is my main focus with students: cutting through the complexity, boredom and overwhelm and teaching effective strategies that help you learn best. We'll cover things like how to self-evaluate, using recall and repetition effectively, the usefulness of mistakes, self-quizing for better retention, and many others. If that sounds "too hard" or "too complex", it's not. These methods can be applied to any level of student. Just want to learn a few chords to strum your favorite songs? It works for that. Want to become the next jazz/rock/metal/alt guitar god(ess)? Works for that, too. It works because it's about using the most efficient, effective means to absorb and master the chosen topic. I have been playing, learning, and teaching guitar for 23 years. I have a B.A. in Guitar Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. My clean, professional studio is well equipped and in a convenient location. I create my own lesson materials tailored to your needs: .pdf's of lessons, lessons notes and practice outlines, and backing tracks to apply what you've learned. All this is stored on your own personal cloud folder and will be available to you forever. And for all you parents, I have a comfortable private waiting room with wifi available (naps, clearing inboxes and netflix are all encouraged). Get in touch and we’ll figure out the best way to get you learning. Looking forward to hearing from you!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a B.A in Gutar Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I teach all ages, from about 10 years old and up. Younger than that is a case-by-case basis, usually determined by the level of self motivation the student has to learn. Always feel free to contact me and we can discuss your particular situation.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

The most important question, to me, is "Why do I want to learn guitar?". The answer to that is the connection with your interest, and your interest is the fuel for learning and progress. That answer will also inform selecting a teacher (e.g. if learning jazz is your goal, then seek out a jazz teacher), inform what and how you practice, and shape who you become as a player. So that question is really the centerpiece of the learning process. I'd encourage you to spend some time coming up with an answer (that can of course change over time!) before taking the next steps in the journey. Good luck!
