FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge for lessons in all-inclusive packages. Books and travel fees are included in the packages, which provide a discount as well as additional materials for more lessons purchased. I also provide a sibling discount and a new student referral discount. For more information on my rates, please visit keyoflifemusicstudio.com and click on "Lesson Rates".
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I like to make sure the students are within driving distance to my studio and that they have a working piano to practice and have lessons on. Then, I discuss lesson lengths/scheduling options. I often like to meet new students prior to starting lessons, especially if they have already taken lessons before. We will discuss what they already know and I will have them play a few things for me that they worked on most recently if relevant. We will discuss goals for piano lessons (i.e. better sight-reader, wants to create music or improvise, play for church, etc.) and sometimes I will have them sight read some short examples.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have both my bachelors and masters degrees in Piano Pedagogy, which is specific to teaching piano, which means I have over 6 years of training to teach piano plus 12 years of actual experience.
