Introduction: Dr. Beata Golec is a pianist, collegiate instructor, music theorist, composer, choral director and an examiner for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate. She teaches piano, voice, music theory (fundamentals, harmony, aural skills, analysis), composition and prepares students for auditions and concerts. Dr. Golec teaches students of all levels and ages. She is the recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2021). She is patient, energetic, and very easy to communicate with. She provides her students with a hands-on experience (duets are a great way to make music together), and gives them the opportunity to perform twice a year at the Young Musicians' Concerts. Dr. Golec enjoys working with children and adults. She takes pride in clear and helpful instruction and provides feedback stimulating students' independence and continued growth.

She is providing piano lessons to my 5 and 7 year old sons. She interacts well with them, they enjoy it and she is good about explaining their progress and goals after each lesson.

Dr. Beata Golec is an incredible pianist, performer, composer, director, and music educator. She has been my music teacher since 2008. Dr. Golec is an extremely knowledgeable music professional and educator who teaches with a warm and engaging style. My lessons are scheduled weekly at a prearranged time and although my personal schedule often fluctuates, we are always able to work out a meeting time. I find Dr. Golec to be a patient, caring, and encouraging teacher. Her lessons are clear and understandable and she teaches to my personal learning style. I highly recommend Dr. Golec as a piano and music teacher.

When I was looking for a piano teacher I had two basic criteria: (1) must work well with adults, and (2) have no expectations for the speed of my learning, thus put no pressure on me. Beata Golec, PhD. matched these two criteria plus more. Having lessons with Beata is a fun experience. Besides being able to explain different playing techniques, she explains music history and theory and how it influences the piece Im studying. This knowledge adds to my overall enjoyment and understanding. I am also amazed by her ability to look at a piece of music and immediately understand its nuances. If you want to learn more than merely mechanics of playing the piano, Beata is the person to learn from. In addition to being a great teacher, she is a delightful person to spend an hour with.

Dr. Golec is an amazing person with an enormous knowledge not only about piano and piano playing but also theory, harmony and music history. I learned so much from her. I actually never imagined I could learn so much about music. She is intellectually stimulating, explains everything with precision and clarity. Great teacher!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with new clients for a consultation to give them the opportunity to ask questions and hear samples of my playing and instruction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Dr. Golec holds a doctoral degree from Eastman School of Music, teaches at State University of New York at Geneseo, and serves as the music director at Our Mother of Sorrows Church in Rochester. Her piano album (including her own compositions) is available on CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes and through other retailers. Dr. Golec debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2005, and performed there again in 2006. She served as the assistant director of Women in Music Festival at Eastman School of Music in 2011 - 2012. She participated in several international masterclasses in piano and voice, choral institutes at Eastman School of Music, pedagogy and choral director workshops. Dr. Golec comes from a musical family. Her mother has been teaching piano full-time for the past 40 years. Dr. Golec is fingerprinted and CASE trained (Creating a Safe Environment). Experience: 1. 15 years of teaching experience in Rochester area (children, teens, and adults) 2. 13 years of university teaching experience
