FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically have a nice conversation with a customer, either by phone or in person, to get know them a little bit and make sure we are a good fit. If you don't feel comfortable with a photographer, it will show in the photos. If the fit is good, then we discuss what their ideas are for the images, what they want to do with them (hang wall art, albums, etc.). We also go over clothing and location ideas. Good planning leads to great photos.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started in high school taking several photography classes. I refined my techniques by shooting photographs pretty much everywhere I went. After deciding to pursue photography as a career, I pursued further education at the Art Institute in their Photography program. I learned everything from color theory and design fundamentals to lighting and composition.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Interview multiple photographers. Don't just go with the cheapest price. These are your memories. You need someone that you connect with and that you like their style. Twenty years from now it won't matter if you paid $50 or $500. The quality of the photo is what will matter.
