FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do offer discounted prices for students who book a month of lessons at a time. A half hour lesson with me is $25 and an hour lesson is $40. However, my monthly rate is $100 for a half hour lesson and $160 for an hour lesson (this price does not increase with months of 5 lesson days).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always offer a free half hour consultation to new students. This ensures we have some time to get to know one another and I understand your goals for music lessons. You also get the chance to make sure I'm the right teacher for you before booking. I have prepared a packet of studio rules and helpful tips for voice lessons (including music theory worksheets) we can go over in that time and you can ask me any questions about lessons, my career as an opera singer, and how to be successful in music studies.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned two Bachelor's degrees in Music Business and Vocal Performance from Bradley University. But beyond the classroom, I have been performing for as long as I can remember. My first time on stage was when I was only three years old performing in dance recitals. I was in youth performance companies in Springfield, where I grew up, and was in at least one or two musicals a year through my school and the Springfield theater community. While I lived in Peoria, IL I performed as the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti, I was Mrs. Phagan in Parade through Cornstock theater, and I was Mrs. Silver in Mr. Silver's Children. I also performed with the Peoria Municipal Band, The Bradley Symphonic Orchestra, Peoria Area Civic Chorale, and many other groups. I moved to the Chicago suburbs in 2017 to continue my operatic career. I have performed with the Tower Chorale, Sinfonietta Bel Canto, St. James Lutheran Church, as well as performed many solo recitals. I came in second place at the National Association of Teachers of Singing's competition. My upcoming engagements include singing with the Chicago Choral Artists and the role of Rachel in Patience and Sarah with Third Eye Opera in the fall of 2018.
