Introduction: For over 20 years, the Center for Environmental Visualization has utilized information technologies and advanced interfaces that integrate ocean research with geo-science education at the University of Washington School of Oceanography. CEV combines environmental modeling with applied technologies such as scientific visualization, science illustration, graphic design and web development.
Our efforts include innovative combinations of technologies that allow learners to interact with near real-time data using highly visual, exploratory interfaces based on ocean science.

Hunter Hadaway has been a huge help with our school's website. The site was put together by a dedicated manager who subsequently left the job and Hunter and the CEV group had to pick up the pieces, figure out what she had done/started/left unfinished, and make it operate well. He's done a great job with that as well as improving functionality and adding new features. Without Hunter, those of us who barely know what we're doing when it comes to websites would only have been able to make it minimally functional. Instead it is inviting, easy to navigate and interact with, which is extremely important in using our website as a tool in recruiting new students and faculty to our school.

Our research and education group collaborated with CEV personnel for many years on the development, design, and up-keep of websites and presentations combined with communication tools to link land-based activities to remote locations on the ocean. Hunter Hadaway brilliantly and enthusiastically turn the most complex Earth and Ocean concepts into interactive visuals that represent scientific data sets accurately and aesthetically stunning. I believe that CEVs work has transformed the way by which the oceanography research, education, and outreach communities share their vision and discoveries about the Ocean.
Over the years, CEV has developed a characteristic, aesthetic style that has served as springboard for many other works. Its rigorous and attractive visualizations of scientific results and knowledge consistently capture the attention of the scientific community and the imagination of the general public. The Center for Environmental Visualization (CEV) has produced outstanding visualizations for a major NSF-funded project that I am involved with. This includes 3D renderings of seascapes and seafloor scientific study sites, diagrams, maps and visually-captivating scientific data displays. CEV has also produced stunning animations in high-definition 3D. Our project group has used CEV images and animations for education, outreach, distribution to colleagues and for presentations to donors and to NSF project managers. CEV imagery enriches our project web site, which has been viewed heavily in recent years as the project has matured. My experience with CEV continues to be excellent and I highly recommend them.
