Ben Clarke was outstanding in every respect and we recommend him without hesitation. He quickly let us know his availability and communicated well before, during, and after the inspection. He was prompt and exceedingly thorough. He took the time to educate us on various safety features and concerns, as well as how the various house systems operated. It was simply an enjoyable couple of hours going over every facet of our new house. Ben had an exhaustive report back to us within 24 hours and was willing to take calls to answer any additional questions we had. We couldn't be more satisfied.Mar 7, 2017Verified
Everything worked out well. The Inspector arrived timely, checked everything all over our house. Had a report back within 24 hours.Oct 20, 2017Verified
Ben was prompt, knowledgeable and patient. He allowed me to follow him around the entire home inspection of 3 multi family units that were in disrepair and were occupied. He explained his findings to me and answered all of my questions. He provided a very thorough report afterwards, and answered follow up questions. He has a great personality that blends with people. The tenants were in a normally uncomfortable position with their homes being sold and expecting a new landlord, but he was able to interact with them in a way that eased their concern. I highly recommend Certified Building Inspections LLC.Aug 1, 2017VerifiedBenjamin C.'s reply
Thank you Alex, that is nice of you to take the time to let my future clients know the superior customer service they will receive when they hire a Certified Master Inspector. It is not only about the attention to detail that makes for a good inspection service, it is providing personalized professional inspection service, tailored to my clients needs. Thanks Again Alex, I look forward to working with you again in the near future.
Ben turned out to be a liar, unreliable and big cheater. I clearly listed my requirements for the pre drywall inspection but knowing i need someone immediately, he sent me an agreement for only framing inspection. When I asked him to explain, he said I dont know what I need although my job description clearly stated the scope of the inspection. He also listed 'District Court of Boulder County, Colorado' for any legal disputes instead of Virginia knowing that it would be extremely difficult for anyone living in VA to take legal action against him. Please stay away form this guy!Jul 26, 2017VerifiedBenjamin C.'s reply
Mr. Ash! My favorite drunk almost customer! How predictable it is of you to besmearch my professionalism. First of all Mr. Ash, get some professional help, drunk, is no way to go through life. There is hope for you, it is with God, may you find him now. In rebuttal to your outrageous statements, I would like to say, your original request was for a "regular" home inspection. Then you phoned me (slurring you words) describing a "framing" inspection request. Then, (on another day) you contacted me through Thumbtack, requesting a "pre-drywall" or "close in" inspection service! I tried to clarify with you, which inspection service you needed AND that you supply the "approved drawings" required for the inspection, which you never produced so the proper Inspections could be performed, in the first place. As for the Boulder CO. legal disputes, I offer a "Buyback Guarantee" with my Inspection Service, and that's where the insurance company is located. Your statement is an out right lie. The only factor outside of your outrageous accusations, what is more disappointing is why THUMBTACK doesn't stand behind their professionals, protecting them from unjust reviews, from people like you Mr. Ash, a drunk mal-content. I have a thriving Inspection business with HUNDREDS of satisfied customers and SCORES of real estate professionals that use my services time, and again. Mr. Ash, your accusations are simply not true. The bottom line is, there was a miscommunication on the service requested, which was influenced by alcohol consumption. It appears that the defamatory review (posted at 11:59pm) was also influenced by alcohol. Unfortunately, professionals like myself have to deal with people like this from time to time. Read the reviews below this one, from people who have actually worked with me before you form an opinion.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing is determined by the type of inspection service requested. The inspection service could be a complete Energy Star rated home energy Audit, a home inspection including thermal-scan inspection, testing for Radon, lead based paint or mold. The size, age and location of the house also factors in determining the inspection fee. We provide free estimates over the phone so give Benjamin a call so we can talk about it.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I set an appointment with my client to meet at the subject property for the inspection. I review the scope of the inspection with my client and encourage them to accompany me on the inspection. As I go through the inspection I will explain to my clients the different components of their home, and how they work together to provide comfort and safety in the home. I will go over maintenance schedules to keep the home running smoothly and avoid costly repairs. I will bring to the attention of the client any items that are broken, unsafe or not performing as intended. I supply a computer generated written report, including pictures and explanations to the client within 24 hours.
