FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My basic rate is $65. This is for a 1-hour lesson. This amount can be pro-rated for a half-hour or forty-five minute lesson. Group rates are available. Students and families may also apply for a sliding scale rate based on income.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I am always excited to find students who are eager to learn. Our initial conversation is always about your interests, ideas, background, goals and motivations. This applies regardless of the prospective student's age! I also use this time to clarify information pertinent to scheduling, payment plans, group lessons, recitals, events, and questions the student or parent may have.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
At the age of 14 I was fortunate enough to attend the National Stage Band Camp at California State College in Long Beach and also Sacramento. Teachers there included Ron Carter, Lew Tabakin, and Toshiko Akioshi teaching piano. My undergraduate major was piano - one of my teachers was John Hicks - and on the graduate level I worked with Ed Baker and Pawel Chencinski. I have continued my studies through the Orff, Kodaly, and Suzuki Methods.
