FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally charge $25/hr for my services and the customer pays for materials. Depending on the size of the job I purchase the materials and keep the receipts for reimbursement from the customer or the customer can purchase the materials themselves, after we agree on what is needed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Sitting down and meeting with the customer face-to-face is always my preferred initial experience. We go on a walk-through of the space and the customer explains to me what they want to see as I jot down notes, asking questions where they come up. I like to prepare a write-up for my customers, listing not only the work involved but any potential problems that might arise. Doing home repairs and remodels is always a fresh experience because each and every home is different and many unforeseen circumstances can arise.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For me carpentry is a family business so I have been working on homes for most of my life, and definitely before I was technically allowed to be! And then I have 5 years of verifiable experience working as a carpenter for a general contractor. I have worked on everything from foundations to trim work, giving me a broad range of skills that I like to share with my customers.
