FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am flexible and open to negotiation. Transcribing: $2-4/audio minute (depends on audio quality, accents, etc.) Proofreading: $13/1,000 words Copyediting: $15-30/1,000 words (depends on level of editing needed)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to know the details of the project - format, how edits are expected (Google Doc? "Track changes" in Word? Hand-written?), whether there are accents in audio, audio quality, length (words or time) and level of editing (grammar only, developmental, etc.).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I majored in communications in college, and have, for the past six years, had writing, proofreading and copyediting as a part of my job description at each position I have held. Coworkers come to me for a second set of eyes on many projects. I also worked at a media production company in the past where I did a large amount of transcribing.
