Introduction: I have over 20 years of coaching experience. Let me introduce myself. I am Coach Chuck G. I consider myself a teacher and also a coach. I pay close attention to details in my engagement and coaching techniques of my clients. My philosophy is, "Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.", by Vincent Lombardi. I feel that it's very important to learn a skill correctly from the beginning, and I spend a lot of time (with a great deal of patience) teaching clients how to undo incorrect practices and to learn the correct fundamentals of playing the game.
Learning and understanding the basics of proper techniques can take a player from his/her current level to the next level. This requires more specialization, experience and knowledge as a player matures. There comes a time when the parent, youth league coach, or school coach doesn't have the time or the experience to teach proper techniques, be able to break old habits, or develop the player to a higher skill level. That's where I add value and help to groom a more confident, solid player at all skill levels, from youth to adults.
By teaching basketball fundamentals, defense and discipline, I have seen many of my students receive full scholarships and reach all-star collegiate status. Most of my clients and/or teams consisted of average players, but these teams' winning records were attained because we paid attention to details. Teaching the "how to's" of individual skills -- leveraging their strengths and improving their weaknesses -- is my specialty.
In addition to one-on-one private coaching, I also conduct the following:
* Basketball teaching technique boot camps for coaches
* Individualized workshops where I go to a school -- There, I will do individualized training for that program where I instruct the coaches while using the players to demonstrate my teaching methods.
* Private basketball tutoring of position-specific skills for high school players who are focused on playing at the collegiate and professional NBA level
* Youth training for our players of tomorrow -- 10 years old and older -- establish fundamentals, consistent motivation, honest constructive feedback with a road map to reach their maximum capabilities and talents.
