- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The pricing for private lessons is $35 per 30 minute lesson if I travel to the student's home. If they come to my home, it is $25 per 30 minute lesson. All lessons are scheduled weekly and paid in advance, monthly. All teaching materials are paid by the student to reimburse the teacher. Lessons are scheduled once a week and lessons are available all year.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For a new student, the first lesson is spent getting to know what the student already knows about music. Trying to find the appropriate course for them to follow, showing them the proper posture, hand positions, patterns on the keys, and what kind of practice they need to get done every day to be a better player. :-)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing piano since I was 5 years old. I was taught by a private teacher in the back of a piano store, then she taught me, my brother and sister at our home. I started teaching through the Ann Arbor Rec and Ed after I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I have been teaching private lessons now for over 20 years, and the group lessons for 5 years. Every year teaches me something I didn't know before and I love learning!
