Steve was an all-around professional. His initial responsiveness was great. He responded promptly to all of my questions. He arrived on-time and immediately after his service, sent me a follow up email with his arrival and leave times, and soon after, sent an invoice. There were no hidden fees. He installed three lights and a ceiling fan and they all looked great (flush with ceiling and stable). It's been over a week and there have been no issues. I couldn't be happier and plan to hire him again for additional work.Apr 1, 2018Verified
We wanted our trim work done in our living room, and Steve quoted us at $35/hr which beat out all quotes and sounded like a great value. We only had one room to have the trim installed, and our living room is simple a rectangle (with no outward corners). He took ~4hrs the first day just to cut/install most of the trim. He ran out of trim so couldn't complete about 5ft of the trim on the wall. (although I'm pretty sure I purchased extra materials). He said he would take a sample of the trim, then come back the next day to complete the installation; but he mentioned he had no intention of sanding, caulking, or painting the trim. I was not pleased to hear this - why show pictures of a finished trim project if your intent is to not do that work? Steve called the next day, not able to match the trim (although he said he'd already found a match, so I was a little confused). Either way, we went ahead and ordered way more than 5ft of trim, and asked if he could meet us at the hardware store to pick it up since it's too big for our car. He offered to just pick it up on his way over to complete the job - but he failed to mention he would be charging us a delivery fee for doing that. He still took about another 2 hours to install 5ft of trim and only partially sand & caulk. He did not do any painting. Also, at the end of the job, there was no more material left. I'm not sure if he's mistake-prone and had to use it all to get the cuts right or what, but I'd ordered about 18ft of trim that got used up for that 5ft space. Each day he did no clean up any of the mess afterwards, although he did cover some of our personals with a plastic covering to keep dust off. The walls were left with marks and dirt as well, and the first day he did not consider removing shoes (it was winter time, snowy/muddy). Overall, I do not believe 1 room should've taken 6+ hours of work especially if he didn't paint and did a partial job at sanding. I give 3 stars simply because we could not have done any better ourselves than he did and we were able to paint and have a decent trim in our living room.Jan 19, 2018
I was impressed with Steve from the minute we first met and shook hands. He listened to what my wishes were, gave great ideas when asked and never made me feel like I was asking for the moon. His stellar professionalism is hard to find these days, especially at an affordable rate! He followed up with a quote when he promised and got started on the project almost right away. We didn't make it easy on him having to communicate with 2 different people but he managed us just fine! What REALLY made an impression on me was how smart he was with his billing and follow up. He would send pictures of what he accomplished every time (I was only on-site once a week) and send very detailed invoices with a "Pay" now button, which made it so quick and convenient! He sent pictures of any receipts for materials he purchased that day as well. You just never know what you're going to get these days when hiring someone, but I can tell you - I definitely trust Steve and am putting him in my speed dial :) Tasks performed: clean/prep/paint kitchen cabinets, install new hinges and hardware, order and install new countertop, repair and paint walls, install backsplash "sticky" tiles, install under-cabinet lighting, replace electrical outlets, replace toilet components, fix a crooked bedroom door so it shuts quietly, and made any adjustments to work as we requested. AND he came in at estimate! No, he's not too good to be true! He's real!Nov 5, 2016Verified
