Illinois Valley Moving labor
About this pro
Good move experience. Thanks!Apr 27, 2018Verified
I hired these movers to move me from the suburbs to Chicago on August 31st and the first thing that happened was they called me to tell me they would be an hour late due to the previous job taking longer than expected. I said that was fine but they actually showed up almost 2 hours later than my original scheduled appointment. So by the time they loaded up the truck, it was rush hour going to my new place and since they charge by the hour it added additional time which would not have been necessary had they arrived when they said they would. Chris(the owner) did take some money off the final bill. The bigger issue occurred when one of his movers broke my glass coffee table. I took pictures of my damaged table and had the mover take all of the measurements which I texted to Chris. He responded by saying he would have the glass replaced no later than Labor Day weekend. It has now been 31 days since I moved and my furniture has not been replaced nor have I been monetarily compensated for the damage that his movers caused. I have contacted Chris more than 10 times over the last month by text and phone calls in an attempt to get this resolved. He has told me several times that it's 'not worth his time to drive to where I live with replacement glass since he has more important things to do.' He kept implying that because the table does not have a large monetary value, this situation shouldn't be such a big deal to me. He suggested that he would just have the glass delivered to my building which is absurd because I am a woman and live on the second floor. The whole point of me hiring professional movers was to have all of my furniture safely put in my new place. If my table had been delivered undamaged then he wouldn't be in this situation. Also, I have been made no less than 3 promises of times when replacement would be brought to me by his movers. Each time, I have waited all day with no one showing up and no one calling to let me know that they would not make it. It seems that once my check was cashed, customer service was the least of his concerns. The last promise I received was last week. He texted me that he found the exact same table online. He then said would I be available last Friday afternoon. I said no, but that I would be available all day Saturday. He said that would work for him and someone would be there around 3 p.m. Once again, no one showed up and I received no phone call. I texted him on Saturday around 5 requesting ETA with no response back. I left him a voicemail on Monday and sent him a text with no response back. I sent several more texts throughout this week with no response from him. Finally, I called him from a different phone no. this morning and when I said my name, he hung up on me. So the moral of this story is, if you use Illinois Valley Movers, I hope everything goes 100% as planned because if it doesn't....beware. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau as well as writing this same review on any and all online outlets I can because I have never experienced such horrible treatment as a customer.Sep 30, 2016Verified
