Josh's Music Lessons
2018 Top Pro
About this pro
I am very patient and able to work with multiple learning styles to make lessons fun! I am jovial enough to hang with the most light hearted of students. But I'm also able to offer very serious students valuable insights from my depth of studies and professional field experience. I enjoy meeting people and seeing them excel at something they have decided to express interest in. I also enjoy teaching because I feel valued for my own skills. But mostly I just enjoy music! It is a privilege to connect to people through a mutual love of music.
Customers rated this pro highly for responsiveness, professionalism, and value.

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Musically: I like to find out your interests and assess your current knowledge of the instrument before diving into any one thing. Some students know a lot and can jump into advanced concepts straight away. Some are looking for a fun new hobby and just want to learn songs to stay interested without learning to read music or any theory. It's all cool by me! Logistically: Thumbtack largely leaves it up to us to proceed. So once we agree on price/location, etc, we just set up the first lesson and go from there!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a B.M. in jazz performance from William Paterson University. I regularly play in professional settings with bands or ensembles in a variety of genres. Mostly around NYC and NJ but I also have extensive touring experience all over the country. Ask me when my next local gig is!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I started teaching when I was in college and have always loved it! I feel very privileged to be able to do it all the time. It is very rewarding to connect to new people through a love of music.
