Introduction: As a teacher with a decade of classroom instruction under my belt, I am skilled at identifying areas of growth on an ongoing basis. I am continually assessing and adapting to my students learning needs through our tutoring interactions themselves. In other words, my students' capabilities for growth are limitless! I love helping students connect the concept at hand to the bigger picture. It is these kinds of connections that give students the confidence and knowledge they need to continue learning long after school (or tutoring) is over.

Ms. Alejandre was a joy to work with. She tutored my son in both math and English. My son has ADHD and struggled in both of these areas. After we worked with Ms. Alejandre he gained his confidence back. His grades went up dramatically and he had a better understanding of his subjects. She was patient, explained things carefully, and was persistent when he wanted to give up. I highly recommend her services.

I have been very impressed the services provided. My daughter asked for help and that is exactly what she has been receiving. My daughter has expressed her appreciation for the kind and professional support she has experienced. I couldn't be happier. Satisfied Dad. ☺☺☺

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I start with a friendly conversation (with the client and their guardian, if applicable) regarding their tutoring needs and their hopes for our time together. I use an assessment (either given to me by the client beforehand or that I have generated) to plan out our lessons in advance. I value my clients' time and prepare ahead of time to make the most of our sessions.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've worked in education for a decade. In Oakland and San Francisco school districts, math and English teachers both are often given instructional coaches and teachers go to professional developments frequently throughout the year. One of my coaches was the renowned Elena Aguilar, author of Art of Coaching. She actually recommended me to a math coaching position after my fourth year of teaching. I was promoted from coaching a single math teacher that year to the entire math department the following year. I also have a masters in writing.
