- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a member of the Music Teacher's National Association and participate in ongoing continuing education events. In addition to my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Speech-Language Pathology, I also have taken many classes in music theory, history, and piano performance. I also participate regularly on piano teachers forums where I exchange ideas with other teachers about best practices and the day to day business of teaching.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been working with children in church and public education since I was in upper elementary school. I enjoy working with individuals and small groups to achieve goals. I chose to major in a field other than music after learning that it was difficult to make a living as a piano teacher, which I really wanted to do. I worked part time after my work hours in a school, teaching piano lessons in the homes of others for several years. I decided it was time to dedicate more time to my studio in 2010, and having been working on this goal ever since. My family relocated to San Antonio, TX in August 2010, and I have been working on building a client base here since that time.
