Whether you are a beginner just starting out, or a veteran player seeking to improve on a particular skill, Gene has something to offer everyone. It has been 6 years since I sat in my last lesson with Gene as one of his students... I am a musician because of Gene, and his impact on my musicianship is lived out every day. My job consists of training up high school musicians for the worship team. From understanding music theory, to song dynamic, to tone and playing technique, to being a multi-instrumentalist, Gene is the reason I get to do what I do. He has an incredible wealth of knowledge about music, and on top of that he is an incredibly personable dude. Gene makes music fun, and provides a unique space for everyone who takes lessons with him to grow at their own rate. But the gift in Gene's teaching comes with his ability to teach you how to teach yourself. Again, Gene teaches you how to be a musician, not just how to play an instrument. Like many teachers, Gene can teach any song, theory, technique, etc., but what sets Gene apart is his ability to teach others how to truly listen to music, in order for them to then teach themselves... a skill set greater than any other. I cannot say enough great things about Gene, and I cannot thank him enough for the incredible foundation in music that he set for me when I his student.
