FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are too many variables in art to list all the pricing, but I do compensate myself for my time and for the quality of the products I use. The larger and more detailed a piece, the more time it will take. I charge an hourly rate of $20. Production costs are usually factored by a daily rate for internet and the programs used to create digital media, or materials used (paper, paint, canvas, etc.) to make a traditional piece. I always send a detailed estimate before starting any work with these costs explained.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually I like to have a brief meet-up/discussion with a new customer so I can get a good idea of what they envision the end product to be, show examples of past work I've done to better understand the style they would like it in, and then offer different price points if applicable. Once the concept is solidified, all illustration/design work usually follows a three step process: 1. I sketch rough concepts which are sent to the client for approval or suggestions. 2. I use the approval/suggestions to make a detailed final sketch. This is essentially a non-color version of the final. I submit this to the client for final approval. 3. I make the final and send it out!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelors degree in fine arts. I've been drawing and creating my whole life, though!
