- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Tutoring: My prospective student and/or his or her parents meet with me for a free introductory session. I give them a little of my background and listen to the student's struggles, goals, and interests. The students are often interested in the Structure of Intellect (SOI) evaluation. The SOI evaluates 90 aspects of intelligence for strengths and weaknesses. Many tested areas are foundational abilities not taught in school. Deficiencies can cause major academic problems, though they are often easy to correct with the right teaching tools. As a reading tutor, one common problem I see is with visual closure. A student may be intelligent and have perfect eyesight, but they miss parts of words when they read. The SOI modules usually improve this and other problems in strides. So normally, I give the student the SOI evaluation. We proceed with lessons that are part SOI corrective modules and part content work. Editing/Writing: Clients meet with me in person or over the phone to explain their project. I prefer in person when possible! Ghostwriting and content editing take more explanation than, say, simple proofreading. I ask for a vision and a sense of what youre currently missing. I give you a time estimate, often within the week for short projects. I offer one or two simple revisions for free. Substantial re-writes cost extra. If the client wishes, we meet again when I finish to go over the project.
