- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I travel world-wide. My fee is $1,200 for a three hour minimum, this includes my arriving early to set-up and staying to clean my area, plus all supplies. If there is travel involved I ask the company to take care of two nights hotel, transportation to and from the event, and sometimes airfare. If I feel the event will help the world such as an art museum, or that they will mention me on their website, the fee or travel price can be lowered. I have a home in Houston, Texas, and family in New York City. If I am working over 3 hours, the fee goes down to $300 per hour. I normally only need a 15 minute break if I work 4 hours, and do request a vendor meal with 4 hours of work. I work twice as quickly and more detailed than any other silhouette artist, with a flattering accuracy, and upbeat personality.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I ask them what their theme is, how I can add more to their event. If it is a wedding I will pre-cut the engaged couple upon deposit so that they can use it on the invitations. I arrive early to all my events and work with their coordinators to make sure they have the best use of my time. When I work a corporate event, or fashion show, I make sure to dress correctly, and ask if they need their logo on the cardstock that I will mount the silhouette on. I was a former TV hostess for many years and I don' t mind if they want me to be informed about their products.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I drew my first portrait for profit at 8 and by 16 Walt Disney hired me as a portrait artist in the park for my high school and college summer job. I saw a silhouette artist, and tried it, and the park director loved my work and immediately hired me as the summer silhouette artist. I graduated with honors from The University of Texas in Austin in Fine Arts and Journalism, specializing in advertising, marketing, and public relations. I also studied in Paris, at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass and Glassell School of Art. My art talent is from generations of fine artists. My mother was an architect, portrait artist, and paper cutter. My art is organic and natural for me, however I do have several upper degrees, my degree in Communications and Fine Arts helps me promote your best interest as I work, and communicate love to the universe through art.
