Introduction: I focus on the student rather than the material. Many tutors can walk through the standard curriculum, but only a great tutor can find a student's secret strengths and show them how to make the most of them. I love the look on a student's face when they finally understand a concept or master a skill they have struggled with for months or even years. Those "aha!" moments are what really making teaching and tutoring worthwhile.

Bryan is the best tutor I've ever used for my kids (for SSAT and SAT testing). He is a teacher who really understands the learning process. His ability to teach, target problem areas and explain concepts is outstanding. There was a significant improvement in the pre/post results for both my kids. Beyond standardized testing Bryan's subject knowledge (of many areas) is exceptional. He has patience and a manner that really makes kids want to learn. I attribute my kids' success to this trait, in that there was never any stress involved. I highly recommend his tutoring services.

I got tutored for the Math 2 and Chemistry test and it went well. My scores started off low but by the time I reached the actual tests I felt very comfortable with a lot of the material.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I realized that the best way for me to learn, myself, was to lead study sessions for others and try to explain ideas. The more study sessions I lead, the more I began to enjoy the teaching for the sake of teaching.
What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common jobs I do are test prep - SAT, ACT, and LSAT. However, I really enjoy getting the chance to work with students on a subject throughout the semester, and seeing them gradually gain confidence and master it.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I have worked with Kaplan and I have worked with other agencies. Their programs are fine, but can never match a dedicated, independent tutor. Paying more for a brand name doesn't end up earning you more points at the end of the day.
