Introduction: 'Bashert' - Yiddish word meaning soulmate -my favorite word in the world. Hello! It would be an honor to officiate your ceremony and witness 2 people marrying their soulmate. We would have a meeting before the ceremony to discuss the wording how to make it personal and special. One of my favorite parts of the interview session is hearing 'your story' of how you met and when you realized you had found 'the one' or your bashert. My fees include the pre-meeting, travel time, prep and ceremony. I have performed a variety of weddings, including English/Spanish, same-sex, mixed religions and micro weddings. Laura did a great job as our wedding officiant. She did everything possible to make this the most special day for us. Laura was able to create a unique ceremony that included Jewish and Mexican traditions and recited the entire ceremony in English and Spanish. She had to go above and beyond to get permission from our local courthouse and then re-sign all the paperwork in the week after the wedding upon finding the courthouse made an error on the paperwork. FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet my couples in advance to find out 'their story' and together we craft the outline of the ceremony - from the welcoming remarks to religious/spiritual words, blessings, vows, ring exchange and the kiss and presentation of the couple. From there, I take it all in and write up the ceremony. I send it over for review and make any necessary revisions. After that, I can be present for the rehearsal and then for the actual wedding ceremony.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in hospitality and tourism from Virginia Tech. Approved and sworn in to perform ceremonies in MD and DC.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
After spending many years in the hospitality industry, I moved from restaurants to hotels to event planning. I have worked on many weddings and have always been told that I am kind, friendly with everybody and a good listener. Moving to be an officiant seemed a natural progression.
