Randy and his team did a great job painting most of the rooms in my house and staining my back yard fence. Prep work was great and was a little extensive, which I did not expect, but the final product was great. I would rather have that extensive prep work than hire someone who does not do it... Thanks to Randy and his team! House looks brand new.

Latta Paint and Flooring did an amazing painting job on our downstairs renovations. He was extremely reliable and worked daily to get the job done for our deadline of carpet installation. Latta was very professional, and always cleaned up after his work was done. We ended up hiring him to complete the painting for the rest of the house. I would highly recommend him for any of your painting needs, and we plan on calling him for future improvements.

Mr Moore did interior home painting for me. He was a Professional with a capital "P". He quoted me a reasonable price and did all that he agreed to do within budget and in the time frame that he said he would. He did all the needed prep work and the paint job was great. All the paint lines were straight and he cleaned up afterwards with no mess behind. I would refer to others.

Mr. Hooper was quick to respond and quick to schedule the job on such short notice. He was professional. He work is great. I had already painted the room and made a couple of mistakes, but could not find them when he finished the job! Had I spoken with him before I purchased paint he could have saved me money on an unneeded primer. He finished the room in 2.5 hours! Great attitide. Good work ethic. Friendly.

Everything about this experience has been great. Charles Shields is very personable and professional. I told him what I wanted and he went above and beyond my expectations. He and his crew have done quality work and I know everything has been done right. The room he added for me looks amazing. He will definitely be the one I will call for all future projects.

We have used Ed for 8 years. He has painted, sealed the indide frame on all our windows, and also cleaned up the mess we made trying to paint a room ourselves. Ed is honest, competitively priced, and does a wonderful job. We will only use Ed.

We have two (kid sized) bedrooms where both regular closets (ie not walk-ins) were expanded with built-in shelves, drawers and dowel rods for hanging clothes with automatic lights. They also repaired some water spots on the ceiling and repaired and repainted some walls and ceilings. The work took approximately 5 days. The workers were on-time and courteous. We are quite pleased with the quality of work and the price was reasonable. In particular Bradford Painting was able to solve our closet re-design with good design ideas that helped make the space more useful and simultaneously keep costs down. When getting quotes from other contractors, they seemed to have trouble understanding what we wanted to do, but Bradford Painting was understood and was able to make suggestions that really made a difference. Additionally, they were very accommodating in performing a few extra repair tasks that were not in the original quote for a reasonable price. Thanks!!

I had built 2 houses, and hired Tamara (Steadfast Painting) to do all the painting in both houses. Not only did she do a fantastic job, she saved me money. The job was completed in a time frame that was less than any other painter that I talked with and with better workmanship. I will use steadfast painting in the future and recommend her to any and all that need painting done.

We had a home built in the fifty's by a bunch a farmers. There was not a plumb and square room in the house. We where selling the house and had moved to our new location, well some criminals broke in and stole the wiring and heat pump. Tore out the sheet-rock and destroyed the home. Robert came in and remodel the house and rewired the home redid the cabinets and counter tops, added walls and changed the layout of the house and made it better and more comfortable. Came in on budget and the house sold within three weeks of the overhaul, Oh yeah turned me on to a flooring company which redid the hardwood floors. I wish I had pictures of before and after but my phone which had the pics went for a swim and did not survive. if you want somebody to do a complete job start to finish with ideas and suggestion to help you get thru the process, I recommend Robert Russell, his right hand man Vincent is a good worker and does almost anything with a house. I couldn’t have made a better choice! From the beginning, Jose & Miguel were clear with what was included in the quote and very responsive to any of my question. They showed up on time for the job and completed it in 2 days vs 3. They were very neat when they worked, covered everything didn’t mess up any of the flooring and even cleaned up and put everything back afterwards. I really appreciated the extra mile taken to resolve some work covered up by previous contractors. They sanded the walls to be sure when they painted it was smooth and neat. I haven’t seen any other painters do this. They are definitely one of the most affordable companies I’ve come across in a long time who are also very nice individuals. I was very happy at the fact that they are licensed and have insurance as well. I will be referring C Krondon Painting to others and calling them again in the near future for any work I may have.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

      • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
      • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
      • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
      • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
