Couldn't have been better! He did some electrical work, installed gutters, painted and fixed a leaking pipe. He was so knowledge, and he helped me cut costs by telling me what and how I could do some projects myself. He went right to work and doesn't waist time or your money. Hire this guy!

I recently hired Greguol Coatings and Remodeling, Gabriel Greguol, as a general contractor for a house I recently purchased in Hoover to finish the unfinished room above the garage to convert it into a 4th bedroom. I am pleased to say that Mr. Greguol exceeded my expectations, and I am very pleased with his work. His work included sheet rock and carpet installation, insulation, painting, electrical work (including light fixture install), flat screen TV mounting, and roof repair. It was nice and convenient for me to be able to hire one person to handle everything. Although he does not do heating and air, he provided me with insight that I was able to use when I hired an heating and air company. Mr. Greguol was a true professional. He was efficient, detail-oriented, reliable, on-time, knowledgeable of all aspects of construction/remodeling, and very personable. I never had to call Mr. Greguol to say, “where are you, why are you not working on the house?” He showed up each day and on time, and stayed on the job without interruption. Above all, Mr. Greguol was trustworthy. This was my first time hiring a general contractor and in all honesty I was nervous due to horror stories that I have heard from others regarding conducting business with general contractors (i.e. making short cuts, being dishonest, taking the money but not completing the work, poor workmanship). My experience with Mr. Greguol was indeed the opposite. He was transparent, honest, honored his word, and anticipated and informed me of construction issues ahead of time and readily offered timely solutions. He completed all of the agreed upon work in our signed contract, he was easy to work with (I never had to argue with him about anything), and he made sure that I was satisfied with his work. And the gentlemen and crew that worked with/for him were professional and worked diligently. Last, Mr. Greguol provides a guarantee on his workmanship. I have not had to call him back to fix something related to his work, but I am 100% confident that if I do that he will come to make the necessary fixes. I am providing Mr. Greguol with my strongest recommendation. If other house/construction related needs arise for my future needs, undoubtedly I plan to consult with and re-hire Mr. Greguol. Working with him was safe and stress-free. I recommend Mr. Greguol for your construction/general contracting needs and I am confident you will have a similar experience.

I had heard that Insurance Companies had funds available for hail & or wind damaged roofs. I did not act on this, nor check my roof. When Mr. Russell knocked on my door and asked if he could inspect my roof, I said sure. I did know how he would inspect my roof as he was driving a car, no ladder to be seen. I was amazed to see my first drone flight up close and in person. He flew it over my house, took video and showed me the damage. He asked if I had Homeowners Insurance and I did, I pulled the policy for him and I was set. Mr. Russell called me 4 days later to see if he could meet my insurance adjuster at my home an I said ok sure. I received another call from Mr. Russell the afternoon after he met with my adjuster and told me to expect a check for $16,486.20 within a week from my insurer and sure enough it came. Mr. Russell ask me when materials could be dropped off and the roof replaced, ASAP was the correct answer. Materials and roofers were at my home in a week and my 74 square roof was replaced in 5 days. I had a high insurance deductible of $2500 but that is nothing as to what I would have been out of pocket for a new 30 year roof thanks to Mr. Russell and his drone. I never had to call my insurance company, never took off work to meet the insurance adjuster and I have new 30 year shingles. The crew cleaned up my yard afterwards and hauled everything off. The roof is beautiful and I could not be more pleased !

My close friend and her husband are getting ready to move just outside of Birmingham but they bought a fixer upper so it's taking longer. We we're looking at different roofing companies because the roof there was horrible! We both found blue Angels (loved the name) and gave them a call to explain the situation. Even with them knowing she was far away from there they still we're able to fix the home in less time than they had originally said! They were great about updating them, pricing, time! She went down there last weekend to check it out and was completely impressed and satisfied! Thank y'all so much!

We were doing a large master suite, den, and kitchen expansion to our home. We hired a contractor who never showed up after taking 3mos to complete 30% of the project. We hired Brent, within 16 days the project was finished!! I mean move in ready..these are some serious experienced professionals who know their work extremely well. Two of our friends hired them for similar projects...and the same result. Love this company!!

We originally wanted just some outside electrical work done. But, H+H was so great to work with that we also had them rewire the inside of the house, repair our roof, replace some window, tiles, and doors. And, now we have asked them to work on our mother's house. They are reasonably priced, they work with the local inspectors and utilities to make sure everything is done to code, and they are fantastic at providing work updates. We highly recommend using H+H.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
