The best trainer in the entire world ever. I am so happy riding with Mrs. Serenity and we all love her so much. Once you're apart of the SJ Equestrian family you're real family. We all stick up for each other and we all get along. I couldn't ask for a better horse trainer, advice giver, or friend, than Serenity Villar.

Red Dog Pet Sitting is amazing!! They took the best care of my baby boy for the 2 years I lived in AL! I had 3 sitters over the years and each one loved Miles like he was their own. They were very organized, SUPER reliable and very professional. They would even send me texts with pictures from each visit. This was my first experience using a pet sitter and it was more than I could have hoped for. We recently moved back to TN and we miss Red Dog Pet Sitting very much!

It was very rewarding and stimulating in meeting my expectations in first learning how to ride a horse. Stepping Stone and all of your assistants were great, cordial, knowledgable and represented you and themselves mightily on teaching me the fundamentals to grow more in advancing my dream of horseback riding. And the hoses that you have were outstanding. The horse I was exposed to, Tiny was great and a fine specimen. Teaching was evident and the core of your riding school which I admire. I thank you for fulfilling my dreams and expectations.

Meagan was an excellent pet sitter for my labradoodle. When I went out of town for a business trip, Meagan was able to meet the full needs of Max and kept him happy and healthy. Her professional attitude kept my mind at ease and I would certainly have her pet sit for Max again!

      About

I stay in home while you're on vacation. I walk dogs on a daily basis or whenever clients choose. Keep them on their same eating routine and water, as well as normal walking and sleeping routine. I also water plants, get mail in and take care of the household. I've never met a dog that didn't adore me..... Big dogs or small.. I have a way with animals, especially dogs.. It would benefit them to get to know me, and me the same.. I get my joy out of spending time with dogs, my family and not to be missed out my young men at UAB... GO BLAZERS!!! I've always cared for the pets interest.. I go above and beyond the call of duty. If you see you are running late to let the dogs out just a phone call can change all of that..! Just simply let me know and it will be done at a drop of a hat! No issues!!!!! I treat all dogs and cats like family.. The way I would want someone to treat my babies and in me, YOU have that promise! To whom it may concern, Vandy Ellis (I promise you will not be disappointed!)

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

      • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
      • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
        • 45-minute visit: $28.
        • 60-minute visit: $32.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
        • 12 hours: $100.
        • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
