I am very thankful to have found I Teach Keys. I am an adult who took piano as a child and quit after a few years because lessons were boring. I love piano music so much that I even tried to take lessons again as an adult at one particular music school in the area and it still was not for me. After having piano lessons with Brannon Littleton, I see what was missing with all my other teachers. He really cares about the students, wants to see them excel and tries to make class fun for the student by customizing lessons to the student's interest. I learned more in one month at I Teach Keys than I did with the other SEVEN music teachers I had in the past! I highly recommend giving them a try!
I've wanted to play guitar for a while now and found Trevor. He is amazing and his pricing is unbelievably affordable have another lesson scheduled with him next week and I cannot wait!
I teach for the joy and not so much for the pay...
My son has been taking guitar lessons from Brian Roughton at Music Academy for a little over 2 years. He started when he was only 6 years old. At first I thought he was too young but let me say that I am amazed everyday at his progress. His instructor is very patient but knows when to push him to try his best. My son who is now 8 years old has performed at several recitals and at a local music store. He has not only learned how to read music and play the guitar, he has learned a valuable life lesson, in that, even things that seem hard at times can be very rewarding. He has also gained so much self confidence from performing in front of an audience. Taking music lessons at Music Academy has been such a positive experience that I hope we continue on for years to come.
I record, mix, and master my own compositions as well as those by various artists throughout the southeast. I have over five years of experience producing hard rock, punk, hip-hop, country, and experimental music.
When I started learning music, as soon and I learned the basics I looked for songs that I like and listen to that were simple enough for me to play, getting to play music I liked was a great motivational factor. So when I take a student I like to find out what they listen to and what they want to play and try to incorporate that into their lessons as much as possible.
I have a very extensive knowledge of brass instruments, guitar and bass, and music theory in general, as well as any math from arithmetic through pre-calculus.. Also, I have been building and working with computers for the last 25 years or so. I've been told that teaching is up my alley, and I find it very rewarding, so I think this is a good fit.
