Q. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A. I absolutely love learning new techniques. I am constantly looking for opportunities to enhance my skill base and service offerings. From private makeup sessions with Celebrity makeup artists to other Professional MUA courses offered by major cosmetic lines.
Q. Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
A. Full Face $50
Lash Strips $10
Semi-permanent eyelash extensions begin at $150
Wedding makeup trial is $35 and that amount is applied towards the balance if wedding is booked
Brides begin at $100
Other wedding party members begin at $65 (wedding prices vary depending on travel, if required, re-touching, and additional events involved with the wedding)
Private makeup sessions $100 (2 hours)
Makeup parties are $35 per person (additional fees may incur if travel is required)
Q. How did you get started doing this type of work?
A. During high school a friend of mine had a skin condition called, Vitiligo, and her natural skin complexion was dark and the other side of her face was white. She was very shy and standoffish and once I was able to provide a cohesive skin color it really helped her come out of her shell. I felt really good knowing that she became a confident woman to this day.
Q. What types of customers have you worked with?
A. I perform weddings mostly and fashion shows. I would like to do more before and after makeovers for the common woman, not models.
Q. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A. I take pride in my work and we are not leaving until all parties involved are satisfied therefore I have never done a job I was not proud of.
Q. What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A. Please treat me with the professionalism and courtesy that I will give to you. Also understand that makeup service is not there to mask your flaws, however to enhance your natural beauty. I am providing a service just like your hair stylist or nail technician and there are skills I have been blessed with that I was placed here to bless you with. I just desire to be treated fairly and paid for the amazing service I will provide.
Q. What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
A. I am totally focused on makeup artistry and while I enjoy having multiple skills I am dedicated to this profession. It frustrates artists when people diminish the importance of our role and try to avoid paying for our services. Weddings photographs, fashion shows, editorial images, TV shows, movies, etc. all come to life because of makeup artists. So please recognize and give just as much appreciation for our service because it is vital.
