Jenny and her team did an amazing job replacing the badly done tile in both of my upstairs bathrooms, I couldn't be more pleased. She was punctual and even though there were a lot of unpleasant things found while removing the old tile, still finished the job in a few days, and the new tile is perfectly smooth and flat and looks great! I'd highly recommend for tile!

Kevin did an excellent job installing our backsplash. The design we chose was pretty complex which need many tile cuts and also require to install a medallion over stove. He quickly understood what I was looking for and the final product exceeded our expectations. The price was very reasonable. He is a true professional with tremendous experience. I highly recommend him for these projects.

I had rain damage from last storms in Chandler, I needed drywall repair and flooring fixed in the master bath of my rental. Doug responded quickly when he was busy with other projects. He was reasonably priced and completed the work when promised. Doug replaced drywall and textured it along with painting the affected area. He also found and replaced tile to match existing tile in the master bath and did a fine job. Doug also repaired some water damage in the garage at a reasonable price and did some minor repairs to small holes and fixed the doorknob at no charge. Bottom line is I was able to trust him to do the job and he came through as promised.

I put in a request for carpet installation and KR Flooring wrote me back immediately. They gave me a great price quickly for installation of the carpet and pad I provided to them. They came out the very next day for installation and were done in 1 day. I will use this company again for my tile installation in a couple of months.

Ivan and his team removed over 2000 sq ft of old flooring to replace it with faux wood tile. The tile work looks excellent! We are very pleased. Ivan was responsive to any concerns we brought forward and addressed the issues immediately. There were no hidden costs, estimate was honored.

We were having a small tiling job done that required ripping up a patch of carpet and tiling an entry-way. The handyman was on time and brought everything he needed to do the work with the materials and vision I supplied. He also added some of his own input which helped make it look great. He custom-cut some of the tiles as needed, and it looks great.

Excellent call - they could not do pavers and the tile job was too small for them but she was super courteous and polite and asked me to check with landscapers.

Gil Sierra Tile did an amazing job installing our home’s tile. Gil provided us guidance on how to successfully remove existing tile and carpet before installation. He came out quickly to assess the property and provided an honest quote. We selected a large wood-plank style tile for the entire home. He was very flexible with scheduling since we are in the middle of a remodel. The crew who installed the tile prepped the concrete floors and doors to ensure easy clean placement of the tile. The worksite was kept clean and tidy throughout the process. The crew was very nice and did an excellent job of laying the tile and grouting. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Ray was courteous, prepared, and professional. I needed carpet replaced after a tenant abandoned the property in sad shape and I needed to be able to move in again on short notice. He came out with several larger sized samples, not those little index cards you see at the large home improvement stores. I was able to select the carpet and schedule for same day service and his installer was wonderful. He even made sure I verified that he had the right carpet with him before he unloaded anything. I've had the opportunity to meet with one of those "express" flooring services representatives in the past and was less than impressed. With Those Guys Flooring LLC I had the owner himself come out and it showed me he cared about my business.

The company was very responsive and easy to deal with. The installers on the other hand were not 5 star quality. I had quite a bit of damage that had to be repaired when removing the existing tile that was unexpected. I’ve come across some areas that need to be fixed but I am reluctant to note it because I’m afraid it could cause more damage to remove and replace.

Darrell did an excellent job hanging pictures frames and art on the walls in my recently renovated home. The walls that bordered the exterior were masonry so it was beyond my skill set. He was on-time, professional, and made sure I was happy with the work asking whenever he had a question to make sure it was done right. I’d definitely hire him again!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
