I am a junior in college and have used Arbor Tutors to help me succeed and become a more efficient student. I love how you can split your hours between different tutors. I was able to use some hours for chemistry, some hours for calculus and some hours for English. Five-star service all the way.

My son is in 10th grade and a bright boy. However, with ACT tests coming up, we wanted him to reach his highest potential. Through the Chelsea International Getting Into The Ivys test prep program, my son has excelled so much so that he is up to go to Stanford. After doing 6 weeks of private tuition with Dr. Michelle, her patience, understanding and encouragement, has driven my son’s greatest results. He scored 34 on his first time taking the ACT and he had no prior ACT testing experience. I am so impressed and so thankful for the professional experience of Chelsea International.

Becky Flowers is a fantastic resource for both college test prep and subject matter tutoring. She is incredibly savvy, very responsive, treats her students with respect and is never afraid to push when necessary. I have used her services for both my kids, for both college test prep, college application essays, and for subject matter tutoring. One of my kids is now pursuing his Masters Degree in Quantitative Finance and the other is now a sophomore at a highly rated university. Ms. Flowers has been there every step of the way. I can't recommend her services highly enough!

MoJoe was my tutor for A&P and I know that my A's would have been B's without his amazing tutoring and encouragement. Recently I took my daughter to MoJoe for Algebra tutoring ... suddenly she doesn't hate math! MoJoe has an amazing ability to teach AND to inspire. A rare combination, in my opinion.

My son was having a hard time with understanding algebra 1 and we were also always arguing about homework - no peace in this situation. He also did NOT want a tutor. Within two weeks, he changed his attitude because the tutor was really getting him to understand algebra. The twice a week sessions got him through all the homework too, so my son got his video game privileges back! THAT made him happy!! Now going into geometry we are still keeping the same tutor and schedule. Our tutor also helps with prepping for tests, keeping our son's backpack organized and structure for writing his English papers. Our son also thinks his tutor is "cool". All and all this is a great thing for our family.

FASTrack Tutors & Test Prep brought me into contact with Mark Kover, who is undoubtedly the best tutor that I have ever worked with. I first met Professor Mark as a struggling 8th Grade Math student, almost certain that I was not going to pass the Math course I was taking at the time. Mark was not only able to help me raise my grade to something passable and substantial, but he even helped me earn an A in the course! Since then, I have worked with Mark as needed, and his guidance and advice has been invaluable in many situations. I would highly recommend Mark for ACT Test Prep, as his testing strategies utilize speed and accuracy, which are the skills needed to succeed on the ACT. With his instruction, I was able to raise my ACT score several points from my previous attempt in merely one weeks time! That ACT score aided me into being accepted to all of the colleges I was considering attending. When it comes to the ACT, Mark will undoubtedly give any student better results than if they were to study with a variety of other tutors, or spend hours attending large group ACT Prep Seminars. One of the most important traits Mark possesses that makes him a great teacher is that he cares about his students' lives outside of their Math Textbook. This makes him not only a tutor, but also a friend and a mentor. He understands that academic success can correlate with success in areas of life outside the classroom. This is an understanding that not all teachers have, and I can say from personal experience that Mark goes above and beyond to make a difference in other's lives.

Q & A

How do I prepare for the GMAT?

If you’re thinking of enrolling in graduate school to earn your MBA, it’s time to start thinking about preparing for the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Working with a GMAT tutor is for many people a wise investment to help you strengthen the academic areas you may be weak in and improving your overall test score. A GMAT prep tutor should teach you not only the kind of information you need to know for the test, but the best test-taking strategies. The GMAT tests you on four categories: quantitative, verbal, integrated reasoning, and an analytical writing assessment. Cramming is probably not going to give you good results for this standardized test; give yourself between two and six months to prepare, focusing on your most challenging areas first. Successful GMAT prep means planning ahead and studying thoroughly. Those students who reported studying under 75 hours were more likely to score 400 or lower on the test, while students who studied 121 hours or more were more likely to score 700 or higher on the test. Hiring a GMAT prep tutor can range in price from under $50 to over $200 per hour.

How long does it take to prepare for the GMAT?

Pros recommend planning to spend two to six months for GMAT prep. The test itself is only 3.5 hours long, but your score will have a major effect on what schools grant you admission. If you’d like to be considered for one of the top-tier schools, it’s recommended to score at least a 700. Your goals for your MBA can help drive your GMAT prep. GMAT tutors will guide your study plan and help analyze your strengths and weaknesses. GMAT tutors also offer professional guidance and insights on strategic GMAT test-taking. Avail yourself of free GMAT prep software that provides sample test questions for you to practice. The creators of the GMAT recommend creating a structured study plan detailing when you will study each day and what topics you will study during each session. Take into account what style of learning works best for you (solo study, one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, study groups, prep courses) and proceed accordingly. The test is made up of these four categories, each with an allotted time:

  • Analytical writing assessment: 1 topic, 30 minutes.
  • Integrated reasoning: 12 questions, 30 minutes.
  • Quantitative: 37 questions, 75 minutes.
  • Verbal: 41 questions: 75 minutes.
