Excellent/reliable paint contractors are hard to come by!!! Give this team a shot at bidding/painting your house, you will not be disappointed. I got three bids and Jeff's bid was very competitive and I wanted to see if he lived up to his promises. I just wanted to say thank you to Jeff Pinosky and his partner Anisia for the excellent job they did on painting the exterior of my house last week, week of Sept 14, 2015. They work together seamlessly, with Anisia doing much of the taping off and protecting the areas not to be painted and Jeff doing the painting. Jeff's attention to detail and efforts on my exterior house paint project were very recognizable and very much appreciated!!!! Jeff is very confident in his work and he tells you this. He says he paints all his projects himself, because he wants to make sure it is done right and up to his high expectations. Jeff was very responsive and timely. He did everything he said he was going to do from start to finish, even cleanup. I added in a few things to be a painted, such as extra house security gates/exterior inside doors and two backyard wood slatted gates. Jeff was happy to take care of these special requests and all at a very fair price. Jeff has a very strong/confident personality and it may be hard for some to get used to. Step outside of your comfort zone and hire Jeff and Anisia to paint your house! You will not be disappointed!!! Thank you Ken G

Sunset Roofing has replaced the roofs on both my home and my office and outside of occasionally being a little slow with their paperwork, I've found their work to be exceptional. I paid my way through college doing construction and can spot a hack a mile away. What I like most is their firm quote police. Never any add-ons or upcharges. I'm sure there are lots of good roofing contractor's out there - just glad I don't have to keep looking.

It is never easy dealing with an insurance claim. Josh Rudin and Jason Jackson came to our rescue when we found out we had collapsed pipes under our foundation in our kitchen. They not only provided incredible contractors to rebuild our kitchen, laundry room, hall and kids bathroom they helped us get the most out of our situation. ASAP Restoration was responsive, professional and communicated with us to make a bad situation not so bad. We couldn't be happier with the end result and our house turned out beautiful.

I work with a lot of builders, contractors, and handymen. Larry was extremely punctual and did qualify work. He was honest and got the job done on very short notice and at a fair price. They also did items I personally didn't think they would want to do but they did it, and did a great job on those too. I will use them again. Brad Daniels, REALTOR®

John was wonderful. This project started out as a simple replace some patio wood that had some water damage. It turned into a LOT more than that. John kept with it the whole way, helping us save money where we could. But, the project ended up costing 7 or 8 times more than we had anticipated. Not because of anything John did, but because of how bad the water damage was. John got it fixed using some sub-contractors for painting and roof work, with no problem. Great job John! I highly recommend him for your project! Scott M.

Without a doubt, the most honest roofing contractor in the business. Sometimes what you thought was a huge problem may be only a few dollars to fix. He will shoot straight with you. I have seen him do it time and time again. For new roofs, best pricing and service in the valley. Give him a call, his advice is great!

I had a severe windstorm bring down a side Arbor on my home a few weeks ago, I was contacted by Alfredo a General Contractor through the Thumbnail Site in regards to an estimate to replace it. At that time I found out that the Arbor was improperly constructed, and the wood was severely rotten all the way through. Alfredo, and one of his crew members (Evan) provided Outstanding Customer Care to me and to my home. He provided me with a fair and honest estimate with all the labor and material cost included. With no hidden charges later to add on. I watch him and his crew member, take down and replace my Arbor with astonishing accuracy, to the exact measure. I watch Alfredo do math calculation in his head for this project like Einstein would have done. He raised the height of the Arbor to its proper height, attaching it to the fascia board in the proper manner, and not at the lowest elevation that it was originally in, and attached to my home. And wow what a difference it made to the side of my home. It is aestheticly pleasing, not only from the garden view, but from the street as well. Matching the design of my home perfectly! His Customer Care was above reproach, and not as I have dealt with less than honest and caring General Contractors over the years in this 1958 Vintage Home. I am so pleased and impressed with his services that I now plan to have him replace and repair a damaged Pavilion Deck that a so called general contractor that I hired last year to repair my Pavilion deck at that time, who used improper materials, measures, and calculations reparing it, that I fell through its flooring in early spring. I would highly recommend Alfredo and his Company to my neighbors, family, and friends... And I have every intention of doing so, as well as keeping his Business Card, well in hand! Thank You Alfredo, and your crew member. I have nothing negative to say in regards to this General Contractor! Only Praise. I'm adding the damage pictures now and will add the finish Arbor once its painted on Saturday.

After being turned down by roofing companies who felt the job was not worth sending a crew, I was very grateful that Mr. Coffen was ready to do the repairs. He took the time to explain the whys and hows of what needed to be done and he did an impeccable job. I will definitively call him back should another roof problem arise.

After suffering extensive roof damage from a July 10 storm, Next Generation was on our roof 90 min after the storm tarping our roof in the dark to prevent further leaking inside our home. 5 subsequent storms hit us in a 2 week period as we waited for the insurance claim. Next Generation came out each time to make certain tarping & or roofing paper was secure. We now have a new roof & couldn’t be happier. Phone calls were always answered promptly, workers were courteous & professional, if you are looking for a quality roofing company, look no further.

Michael responded quickly after I contacted him. He gave his honest opinion on what would be the best option to address my problem versus installing a larger project which would be unnecessary. I found that respectable as he could have made more that way but again was honest and knowledgeable with his recommendation. His quotes were reasonable. Even though he was late due to a roofing project he and his coworkers addressed all that I wanted in a timely manner for again a very reasonable price. Would refer and use him again. Pleased with the work completed.

Ed has now completed two roofs for me and has done an outstanding job on both. These are difficult flat roofs that were not properly maintained in the past and Ed was upfront and transparent about the scope and nature of the work from the start. Ed is a true professional and prides himself on the quality of his work. There were many opportunities on these projects where he could have taken short cuts and compromised the quality of his work just to move on to the next job (as has been my experience with other contractors) but he chose to to keep me informed and do the job the right way. In addition to installing top quality roofs for me, Ed got both of my roofs done for an excellent price within my budget. I doubt you could find another roofing professional in the Valley that can provide an overall value similar Ed. Thanks again for your hard work Ed, I look forward to working with you on the next project.

Elite Roofing and Remodeling was such a great company to hire to fix and repair my patio roof. They were efficient and personable with me, always keeping me in the loop with the repair process. They were very detailed, including a very thorough clean up process which was a big deal to me with kids that will be playing in the back yard. I would recommend Elite to anyone!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
