Introduction: I have over 30 years of experience teaching the violin, viola, cello & piano to kids and adults of all ages and all levels. I can help you whether you are just starting out or you have been playing the violin for a long time and want to learn more advanced techniques and/or help with you with your current technique. I am especially good at developing a strong left hand and right hand technique and my students are known for their beautiful tone. I have a unique way of bringing out an individual's personality through their playing and developing their sense of musicianship. I also have a strong background in voice, music theory, composition and chamber music. I really enjoy watching the "ah ha!!" moment my students have when they achieve a new skill on their instrument. It gives me pure joy to know that I helped do that. Learning to play the violin, especially, is more difficult than any other instrument you could chose. The runway towards accomplishment and success on this instrument truly depends on the amount of work, time and discipline you put into it. I love teaching and "giving away" my secrets. I look forward to the students who realize the value of these secrets and get really good as a result.

Myra Lin has been an excellent violin instructor thus far. I have learned so much from her in just a short amount of time. I have to fix bad habits and relearn some things but she is patient and detail-oriented with a magnificent tone/style.

Myra Lin is a superb violinist with the ability to play many styles of music including classical, jazz and fiddling. You should hear her tango! WOW! Myra puts her heart into her music, with highest regards to the composer's intent and translating that to her audience. She can really connect with the audience. As a teacher, Myra' attention to detail is impeccable. She knows how to teach technique second to none, and includes music theory so that the violinist understands what they are doing and can problem solve in the practice room. Bottom line is that Myra cares about her students. She teaches them how to play the violin well and how to be a person of character. As a professional violinist myself, I highly recommend Myra Lin as a teacher and performer.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
PRIVATE LESSONS: COST: Thirty dollars ($30.00) per half-hour lesson; Forty-five dollars ($45.00) per 45 minute lesson; Sixty dollars ($60.00) per full hour lesson. Group Lessons are also available depending on interest. (please call me to discuss possibilities). There is a minimum enrollment of 4 kids per class and no more than 6 kids total. COST: Twenty dollars ($20.00) per each child per full hour lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The runway for learning the violin is different for every student I see. Personal ambitions, level of discipline, time, and physical proclivity for the instrument are all factors taken into account and I design a program suited for each student accordingly.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BM, MM (USC)and 4 years of Doctoral work (SUNY at Stonybrook) in violin & viola performance. I have over 30 years of teaching experience, teaching violin, viola, and cello. I also have a strong background in piano, voice, music theory & composition, chamber music.
