John is an Amazing teacher! I have been playing guitar for over 10 years and decided to take some lessons to improve my abilities. The moment I sat down with John I knew I could learn much more from him as my guitar and bass teacher. His knowledge and abilities reflect well the thirty years of experience that he has. Not only is he an incredible guitarist, he is very knowledgeable about music and is able to explain it in a way that is relevant and easy to understand. Whether you are a beginner or you just want to improve in some areas, John is the music teacher you are looking for. I highly recommend him after taking some lessons with him for the past three months.
Mr. D was my music teacher in elementary school and in high school. He taught me not only how to play multiple instruments, read music, understand time signatures and rhythm, he opened my eyes to one of the most wonderful, influential things in my life. Music. He pushed me to better my abilities as a musician and as a person. I never knew how many different, eclectic, beautiful sounds were out there until he played them for us in class. I fell in love with jazz, funk, disco, rock, classical, the list goes on. I still listen to the songs we played with excitement and affinity today. I even pluck the bass lines now and again for nostalgia's sake. I consider Gil Donatelli to be one of the most understanding, knowledgeable, fun, motivating people I have ever met. I consider him a friend and I'm lucky to have had him as a teacher. Craig Barter
Dave has my highest praise and recommendation as a guitar teacher extraordinaire. He is an inspiration as a guitarist, a teacher, and a person. As a person, he is caring, respectful, trustworthy, and fun-loving. He's a semi-retired behavioral therapist, whose mission in life is to help others achieve success, and this mission is evident in the way he approaches teaching. As a guitarist, he knows, can play, and can teach every aspect of guitar, from beginner to advanced, in any genre of guitar music. He's a former performer and can play a guitar with the best. And his repertoire of guitar music is endless. As a teacher, he is a patient listener, he encourages and motivates us by being positive in his appraisal of our work, and he's a fun-loving guy who knows that we learn best when we are enjoying what we do. He is also an inventive teacher, who knows each student's learning style, and he has a toolbox of unique ways students can learn skills and techniques more easily. His greatest joy is seeing us take those "quantum leaps" to the next level of achievement. Dave is a teacher who opens doors to new aspects of music and encourages us to reach beyond our expectations for ourselves. And we do reach. It is amazing what I have accomplished beyond that horizon. I'm 75 years old. I've been taking lessons from Dave for 13 months, and I've never had so much fun learning something new. From a rank beginner, I can now find music I like, look up the chords, transpose if necessary, and sit down and enjoy playing. I've found a pleasure in playing guitar that I had never imagined. Dave has translated his love of playing into his love of teaching, and I have been one of the happy beneficiaries of his gift. Dave is a treasure.Taking lessons with him is a truly joyful experience. Whatever your talents and aspirations, you will achieve your goals and even beyond. I recommend taking lessons from Dave as one of the best investments in music education you can make, and your results will add a new dimension of enjoyment to your life.
Reggie is very patient. I had NO musical background: now I get it for the first time, and can at least pretend to play the bass guitar. Reggie let us work on whatever I was interested in, at my speed.
Mike is an amazing guitar instructor. He has a vast knowledge in all aspects of guitar and bass. His teaching methods are amazing and he inspires his students to challenge themselves. Mike, believes in his students and wants to see each one of them succeed.
I have taken guitar lessons before and it was focused mainly on learning to play songs on the guitar. Like many others, I was a guitar player but not really a musician. If you want to learn music theory, Glen has a method that is fun and interesting that will transform the guitar player into a musician. In addition to this, he reserves time in each session for the student to learn new tunes or guitar techniques of choice. Glen is extremely effective, organized and patient. He will guide you to your goal no matter what level of player you are.
Michael Calve is a brilliant improvisational musician with no inhibitions when it comes to crossing genres. His fearless approach to the bass, music in genera and life is truly inspirational. Make sure to check him out if you get the chance!
"To me being an awesome guitarist and an excellent instructor are two different things. Somebody who is both is a genius in my dictionary. Fortunately for me, Michael is that rare genius and is extremely professional. I rate my instructors on the following characteristics: * Knowledge of, expertise, and enthusiasm for the subject matter and teaching * Good organization of subject matter and course * Effective communication * Positive attitudes toward students * Fairness in evaluation * Flexibility in approaches to teaching I am very picky about the quality of lessons I get. I have tried various instructors in the past, and some of them I couldn't continue with, for more than a couple of weeks. A few of them were good in teaching music that they know best, some were only good in certain genre. You throw anything at Michael (rock, metal, jazz, blues, funk etc.), and his ears will pick anything and everything within the human audible range. If its played in the record, (it will be on) your tab sheet. The music you will play is as accurate as it can get. Not only he writes accurate tabs, he can hear what effects are being used. His knowledge about audio engineering is vast too, and can help you achieve the tone you like the most. His gear recommendations are excellent. He is a great guitarist and his attention to technical details of playing is unmatched. His approach is very scientific to everything. If he is telling you something, believe me, there is a reason behind it. I can go on and on raving about his instructions and what he has to offer, and I am able to do this with utmost confidence because of the vast improvements in my playing style, my understanding of music and gear, and the ease at which I am able to play more complex music within a period of just 2 years. All in all this is a great product offering for a very decent price. Thanks Michael."
Jamison has been an incredible teacher (& friend) since I moved here and started taking bass lessons. His patience, wit, and innovation in making the practice truly accessible has brought my playing to a whole new level! Highly recommend him - make time for music!
I believe, there is a significant difference between a Coach & a Teacher. Both should be well-versed in Basic fundamental standards & both should keep abreast of technological advancements that amend & add to those standards along the way, but a Good Coach knows, He not only has to excel at instilling those good ol' fundamentals, standards & new upgrades, He also knows "he must first get the attention, approval, & respect of the individual he works with, to find & bring out the best in them". I've been a student at The Drummer's Den for almost 3 years. I'm difficult to work with because, I was born with learning difficulties, Dyslexia & ADHD included. I won't reveal my age but, Believe me when I say "I've been through the gamut when it comes to experiences with Teachers & Coaches." When standards are the bottom line, you're a Teacher. When a solid rudimentary foundation, personal creativity, individual &/or group advancement & achievement are taken into consideration, along with the bottom line, you are a Coach😛‼️ Coach Bryan Hawkesworth at The Drummer's Den applies all the important fundamentals but with humanity❗️ He Coaches with patience & understanding, He respects individual differences & seeks out new presentation methods. (If I don't understand one perspective he can pitch another one, or more, until I get it😁‼️He listens to me, let's me Play & try new things that I like‼️ From Rudiments through Rock, & Jazz, & on to something new from there. Don't be fooled by the name of the place. I'm a Drummer learning drums & Cajon but, eventually maybe I'll move on to Guitar. I can choose to start with Bass (which might be easier) or I can try Lead guitar & see how it goes. I Got all my equipment right there on site. Bryan Special orders from any Drum or Hardware manufacturer that I choose👍. He listens & Helps me with choices & options❗️ I'm older & wiser than I used to be & that's a good thing but, more importantly this whole experience of learning a new skill, having someone listen about what's important to me & help with music decisions, gave me something I never expected to have, A level of self-esteem, self-worth, & confidence that (I'm sure) you can only achieve from really Great Coaching & Great personal customer service😁‼️✌️ M R Harmon
I have known Dave for over 10 years and he has greatly helped me with my knowlege of the piano. I am primarily a bass player but am always looking for ways to improve my overall musicianship. Dave is an excellent teacher who is patient and fun to learn from. I truly believe that any time spent with him as a teacher will increase your knowledge and ultimately your love for music
Rich has helped me improve my guitar and bass playing tremendously. I had a little experience before taking lessons from him, but he raised me to another level. I am now a gigging musician and I feel so much more comfortable and confident playing music because of what I learned from him. He can cover the whole spectrum for learners. Rich is a great teacher of the fundamentals and as well as advanced concepts in a variety of genres. He can show you how to build with the building blocks of music! Also, he is accommodating with his schedule, when he can be, which has been great for my crazy schedule.
I took beginning bass lessons from Jeff 10 years back for a year or so. I am an old dog and he was able to teach me. The knowledge he shared with me has taken me pass my goals. I still review some of the material he shared. I sometimes think I should take more lessons. I now get calls to play professionally. thanks Jeff.
Corey is the bass player in my band and we primarily play blues, classic rock and jazz. Not only does Corey show professionalism in his playing style, but he is also very punctual and responsive to feedback. Given that he has 10+ of years with the bass, I would highly recommend Corey for bass lessons!
Studied with Chuck Wayne for three years. Played professionally for over 50 years. Current member of AFM Local 586.
Are you sick of playing your bass with a bow? And sick of only being able to play with classical music? Come to Psychobilly slap and learn how to play like a man. I teach Rockabilly, Psychobilly, and blues style for upright only. I don't offer lessons for orchestra students.
I offer drum lessons. I've been teaching students of all ages, from beginner to advanced, drawing from my many years of professional experience in the studio and live playing as well as touring. We combine what the student is interested in (more so for advanced) and what they need work on. To get you playing with less effort, more control, better ideas, on top of a very solid groove, I am using traditional books and years of teaching experience. I also offer music lessons, covering beginning piano. The student learns how to read and play notes, rhythms, chords, melodies and scales. I also teach bass guitar. The students will learn to read rhythms, notes on instrument and scales, approach to good technique, articulation and read tab and standard music.
I teach from a real world, blue collar, working man's perspective. You want to play, not be mired in study material. You want to experience the joy of music, not the labor involved. We work together to create a fun learning environment and put you on the fast track to playing what you want to play, how you want to play it.
I will travel to you free of charge as well as beat any price you can find. I typically teach every student once a week for one hour or longer if needed. I will start out with the basics then chords and theory, as well as learning a familiar song at the students speed every lesson. I will also set up and maintain the students guitar(s) as well as teach the student how to care for their own instrument. All guitars are welcome like electric, classical and Acoustic. I teach all ages, nobody is ever too young or old to learn how to play an instrument. Anyone can learn if they truly have a passion for it. All it takes is frequent practice and a will to learn.
I am one person teaching multiple children on multiple instruments. I get siblings to play music together and absolutely love it. I have abundant proof of typical results that i get at the website provided. I have many, many more youtube channels filled with my students videos. Getting one child to play numerous instruments is my forte.
