Dr. Guida is a very skilled pianist that has taught me a lot throughout the past few weeks. I have been self taught for 1-2 years and I have made a lot of mistakes throughout my piano journey, but Dr. Guida is very intelligent in correcting these mistakes. The thing that surprised me the most while taking his lessons was that he was able to make my piano playing sound so much better, in terms of expressiveness and make it sound so much emotional. Before, I was practicing a Chopin Mazurka op 67 no 2 and it sounded very choppy, displaced, and foreign when I tried to perform it, but then after just 2-3 weeks of lessons, his advice has helped me improve so much and that the piece now that I am playing sounds like I have had 10+ years of experience and that it now sounds so majestic. Before I thought it was my piano's fault that the playing didn't sound good, but he has taught me hand techniques and playing it in rhythm and also making it flow so much smoother that I was shocked at the amazing results. In terms of personality, he is very nice and he doesn't rush things and is very understanding, so if you are having trouble with either playing something or don't understand a concept, he will make sure you will learn it before you move on. He is also friendly and understands your problems that you have. Also, he is the master at explaining things because he is concise where everything is undertandable and also makes a lot of sense. He has a great personality and nice and friendly. Overall, I would recommend him for a piano teacher, because he is also very skilled and will guarantee that you will make you sound so much better that you will hear the difference before and after your lessons. I can’t say enough good things about Michael. I was a little hesitant to contact Michael having no background in piano and music in general but he reassured me that it is never too late to learn and excel at anything. After few lessons with him I can already see so much improvement and my confidence is being gradually built. Michael is very friendly, patient, and most importantly passionate about what he does. I would definitely recommend him for anyone wanting to learn and love the piano.

Michael was the best piano teacher I have had. As an older student he helped create a plan that was interesting and doable. He is very patient and low key. His personality is low key and he really tries to make everything down to a scale or chord progression interesting and understandable. I enjoy my lessons greatly and look forward to more.

I charge: $45 for 30 min $65 for 45 min $80 for 60 min
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I assess the student's level right away, and start him or her on the right level. We will work from there and make progress immediately.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Doctor of Musical Arts, and I received my Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. I have studied piano with concert pianist Anton Nel, and studied the pedagogy of piano with professors Sophia Gilmson and Martha Hilley. There, I learned the proper and professional techniques of teaching piano at all levels.
