Annabelle and her partner just finished my 18month German Shepherd. She's a handful (my dog, not Annabelle). Not only did they accommodate my crazy schedule but they called ahead when on their way, the facility was clean and well organized and my dog loved them. A little pricier than some but worth the care and treatment. Definitely making this a repeat service. Thank you guys, for doing a great job!

Our dog Chloe just pranced into our front door after her groom and she looks amazing! The mobile aspect of this service is so convenient!! No carting our 70lb dog to groomer and back, being in call for 3 hours as we wait for a call that her groom is finished. Instead today we had front door service and a quick, easy, beautiful grooming! I’ll never go anywhere else again!

She was simply Amazing! Very careful & patient with my dog even though he can be a bit stubborn. She removed tons of shedding, washed him thoroughly, and cleaned up everything as if nothing ever happened. I highly recommend her!

I have an elderly dog (14 yr old Aussie Shep/Border Collie mix) and I needed a mobile groomer because traveling in my SUV is just too stressful and difficult for my dog now. I requested quotes for mobile groomers on Thumbtack and Natural Pet Mobile Groomers were the only ones to reply. Based on that I was willing to take my chances and boy am I glad I did! They were pretty busy but managed to get us scheduled for a Saturday just a week and half out. I was told they would arrive between 8:00-8:30am and they were on time! They sent two groomers (a dynamic sister duo) and they were awesome. They gently lifted my boy into their van and got to work. A couple of hours later, they rang my bell and had my beautiful boy at their side looking so handsome and proud of himself. He smells so clean and his fur is so soft. He looks like a puppy again! When they realized he hadn't eaten the treat they gave him, they brought it up to the house to make sure that he got it because they wanted him to know he was a good boy and that getting groomed ends with a reward. Thank you so much Lisa and Hailey and Natural Pet Mobile Groomers! We'll see you in a few months.

Ericka hasn't provided services for me yet but her initial meeting with me and my dog meant ALOT to me. She was VERY respectful of my wishes and requirements and I feel very confident in my choice of using her to watch after my beloved boy! She knows how much he means to me and she has seen how difficult he can be but she was still interested in the challenge! She is genuine and very personable and I can immediately tell that the other reviews and testimonials are correct about her work ethic and service. I doubt I will need to update my review AFTER completion of her services with me. I HIGHLY recommend her. I'm even offering to pay her more than her quotes price because she really impressed me and she does have her work cut out for her hahaha thanks a bunch, Ericka!!!!

We had 4 Paws on the Go come and give our 2 golden retrievers summer cuts. Neither dog had ever been professionally groomed before but they did a great job on both dogs. They were courteous and quick and were sensitive to the fears of our youngest dog. I would highly recommend them.

Tricia was exceptional. She clearly loves dogs, is very flexible, trustworthy, and even stopped by to pick up my 2 dogs which makes life easier before a trip. I've used many other dog sitters in the past and Tricia would be my first choice. She even sent pictures of the pair while I was away. And when I returned from my vacation, my 2 dogs were more relaxed than ever. Clearly my dogs were well taken care of. Would highly recommend Tricia's.

Jackie was very nice and my dog was happy afterward. The cut was good, not exactly as I'm used to, but Jackie was more than willing to make any changes that I wanted. Overall, I was pleased with the experience and will use her in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

What vaccines do dogs need to be groomed?

It’s important to make sure your dog is up to date on its vaccines before taking it to a groomer. Vaccinations keep your dog and the other dogs that use the establishment healthy. Viruses can linger long after a dog is gone, so an unvaccinated dog can infect a number of other dogs days or even months after their visit. Find out about your dog groomer’s vaccination policies, and think carefully about receiving services from a company that does not require vaccinations. Here are the main vaccinations that are generally required for dog grooming:

  • Parvovirus: Parvo is a nasty virus that can kill dogs within 48-72 hours of infection. The virus is incredibly persistent and, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, is resistant to heat, cold, humidity and drying. It’s spread by dog-to-dog contact or contact with contaminated feces, environments (food and water bowls, collars and leashes, etc.,) or people.
  • Adenovirus 2: Dogs receive this vaccination to protect against canine infectious hepatitis. The vaccination can also helps prevent canine cough.
  • Canine distemper virus: Distemper has no known cure and can cause serious pain, illness, and even death, although recovery is possible with medical intervention.
  • Rabies: This disease attacks the central nervous system and — when untreated — will
  • lead to death. The CDC recommends euthanizing an unvaccinated animal that has been exposed to rabies, although six-month isolation followed by vaccination is also permissible.
  • Para-influenza: Canine para-influenza leads to kennel cough and an unhappy dog.

How much does it cost to groom a dog?

Dog grooming costs depend on the service your pet requires. Nationally, the average price for dog grooming ranges from $40 to $100, varying by location. Not surprisingly, dog grooming on New York’s Upper East Side costs nearly double what it costs in a small town in Montana. Dog groomers typically handle every aspect of your dog’s beauty and hygiene, from tooth brushing to hairstyling. One potential way to save is to have your dog groomed at your doggy daycare — sometimes they offer discounts on dog grooming prices for clients. Here are some examples of average dog grooming costs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please note these prices would include transportation fees for picking up and dropping off your dog to your home:

  • Nails: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
  • Toothbrushing: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
  • Tooth scraping (removal of plaque from teeth to prevent infection), with anesthesia: $600
  • Tooth scraping, without anesthesia: $400.
  • Wash and dry: $60
  • Ears: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
  • Grooming package: $130 — includes wash, nails, teeth, ears, gland expression and haircut
