Life of Riley Personal Chef Service
About this pro
I have been bringing restaurant-quality, healthy, whole foods into my clients lives for 12 years with in-home weekly meal preparation, dinner parties, catering, and cooking lessons. I specialize in cooking for food allergies and sensitivities, using clean ingredients, and love to make my clients who have more challenging diets feel like they are not sacrificing on flavor and satisfaction in order to be healthier. I cater for dinner parties, wine and cocktail parties, and other events for parties of 50 and under, creating personalized menus for each event. Cooking lesson dinner parties in clients' homes are my favorite service I provide. Cooking together is a bonding experience, and I love sharing my passion and skills with people in helping them become better, more confident cooks in their own kitchens. Being a personal chef is so rewarding in so many ways. I love being able to give clients with dietary restrictions the same kind of first-class dining experiences that the rest of my clients can enjoy. Seeing them really enjoy a nice meal without feeling crummy at the end of it is so satisfying. It has been great from a professional standpoint to be able to have control over the menus I provide, unlike many restaurant chefs. I get to be creative on a daily basis in trying to appeal to my diners' tastes and meet their individual expectations.
Customers rated this pro highly for work quality, responsiveness, and professionalism.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My fee schedule for my weekly in-home meal preparation can be found on my website, with many different types of service packages available on a weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly basis. Pricing for dinner parties varies according to how many courses are desired and how many diners will be attending the party. My fee schedule for cooking lessons are broken down into 2-hour and 3-hour lessons and are on a fee scale depending on the number of people. The larger the party, the lower the per person fee. I also offer discounts for a series of 3 lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Depending on the preference of my client, we either speak by phone, trade emails, or meet in person to discuss their diet and needs. I do menu planning via email before the cook date, and try to be thorough in describing how my business operates. I like for them to know exactly what to expect on my cooking days in their home.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I attended culinary school at Stratford University in Falls Church, VA, while training in a restaurant under the former Executive Sous Chef for the highly-acclaimed restaurant, Citronelle, in Georgetown. I had the great experience of being able to hone my food presentation skills and expand my culinary repertoire while working on Emeril Lagasse's TV show, Emeril Green, in 2009.
