We had several jobs around the house that needed addressed before putting our house on the market. The House Doctor handled all of them, including: RV gate installation Island mount hood vent in kitchen Electrical work Drywall repair Kitchen cabinet installation Tile installation I am very pleased with the quality and value of the work done, and glad I found one person to handle all of it rather than subcontract out to several different people. Very trustworthy and helpful. Went above and beyond when an issue came up (ie drove across town to pick up an oven I purchased on craigslist). Thank you John!

It's very refreshing to deal with honest, fair and knowlegeable repair companies. We needed a new heating element on our Electrolux dryer so I contacted Leo and he scheduled the service visit for the following morning. He was there on time and had our dryer up and running in a short period of time. There is no doubt that this will be my new go to company for any appliance repair. Thank you Leo for providing excellent service that hit the mark.

Antonio and his team took care off our laundry list of electrical needs. They installed multiple ceiling fans and lift fixtures, moved outlets, and mounted our flat screen. They were efficient and completed all tasks, even though we threw a couple of curveballs. We will be using Antonio in the future for installation of our pendants and recessed lighting.

Washer was inspected and technician answered all questions. He was very direct about the repair and provided a quote including the service charge which could be used in the repair cost. Explained what was happening because of a bad motor. We did call back and okayed the motor replacement.

A to z is exactly the appliance repair you've been looking for. Leonard communicated before the appointment, gave a window of arrival, and was right on-time. He diagnosed the issue and repaired my GE Profile refrigerator within an hour. He had the part in-stock on his truck. Incredible service and professionalism. The price and value of his service and knowledge cannot be beat. I would highly recommend A to z over any and all service repair I have used in the past 25yrs in the East Valley.

Scott was prompt to reply to my request for a repair and arranged to come out the next morning. As this meant coming on a Saturday, I was already impressed! He arrived exactly as promised and quickly found the cause of the problem. He offered me a couple options (repair vs replace the part) and then drove into the traffic on the 10 to get the matching part. He installed it and then made sure the washer was running properly again for me before leaving. Price was reasonable for the repair and all the time Scott spent (well over 3 hours!!) working on the washer and retrieving that dratted part. Definitely recommend.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
