Jeanne has been a lifesaver for me. I have a pit bull that came to me as a stray and was a handful to say the least as she has absolutely no boundaries and was not socialized with other animals. As such, I really needed someone to stay at my home while I was gone for a week on vacation. Jeanne was so wonderful with her and sent me pics and even took her to a vet appointment for me. She sent pictures and updates frequently, which I loved. Plus, I absolutely felt I could trust her with my animals and in my home. After Jeanne left from being at my house a week, my dog sat and stared at the door, waiting for her to come back because she loved Jeanne so much. I highly recommend her and she will be the only pet sitter I ever use!

My husband and I found out late that we needed a petsitter for the Christmas weekend. Leslie found me on Thumbtack, met with me the next day and started petsitting the day after that. I came home to happy animals and a clean house. I feel very lucky to have found a petsitter like Leslie on such short notice, and my dogs and cat were lucky to have such an animal person to take care of them. Thank you!

Sue was outstanding! Sue visited prior to pet sitting to meet the cats and familiarize herself with their routine. During our trip, she sent us numerous status updates via text. She was easy to get ahold throughout the entire process. We will definitely use her again!

We highly recommend Alicia and Murphy for pet and house sitting. She watched our 3 pups for 2 weeks. The pups had a fabulous time and our family got to enjoy a much needed vacation with no worries about pups. We look forward to having her pet sit them again. Thanks!!!

Lynda is the BEST! My dogs love her! Even though they only see her when we go out of town for an extended time, they remember her and greet her with songs when she comes over. She spends good time with my guys, making sure they're happy, fed, played with and walked. She takes care of my house. I don't have to worry about anything when I hire her. One of the best things she does is to call me and let me know that they're all doing well. I love this! If you need someone really dependable, trustworthy and who loves your pets as much as you do, call Lynda. You won't be disappointed!

Val watched our German Shepard at our home for 10 days. We could tell from the moment Val met our dog that they were going to get along great. He kept running up to her to play. He's a big guy to handle but we knew he was in safe hands and we got daily updates and photos. It was great keeping our dog in our own home because he is high maintenance. I will definitely ask Val to dog sit again when we go away and would highly recommend her. I also thought her prices were very reasonable.

When I lived in Phoenix, I without fail used TLC to care for my cats while I was on vacation. In one instance, when I was seriously ill and in the hospital, Margie and staff came to my apartment and cared for my cats for 9 days on the spur of the moment. The staff is clean, experienced, courteous and Margie only hires caring animal lovers as staff. I would not hesitate to recommend TLC While You're Away to anyone in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

Love love Damars Pet Sitting. I came back from a 5 day trip and my pups were so calm and pleasant. I believe they are dog whisperers!! When I got back, both dogs had their nails trimmed without even asking as part of the service. I received daily updates including prices which does bring piece of mind especially since I have one dog with medical needs. They are fantastic and I HIGHLY recommend Damars Pet Sitting. Oh and the dogs get a nice little report card! Too cute.

I take my job seriously. I'm good with animals and good at many tasks. Do you need me to do something? Just ask!

About

I have 7 years of experience. I am mature and I am not doing this for just a short time and on to something else. I love taking care of people's pets and intend to do this even into retirement.

About

I am a security officer, and I will take care of your pet and property while you are away. I will give water, feed and walk your pet and do multiple daily visits. I have local references.

About

I make sure the pet feels like their owner never left making sure they get as much if not more attention so they stay happy.

About

I am a working college student who loves to pet/house sit in her spare time. I have about 2 years of experience doing this.

About

I've been pet sitting for 3 years and almost every week before I moved to Arizona. I have a passion for animals of all shapes and sizes and will watch anything from cats to snakes and all in between. I'm comfortable with any animal. I can play with them, feed them, let them out, and give them the exercise that they need, and I provide my own transportation. Since I'm homeschooled, I have a very flexible schedule that would allow me to visit during the day and into the night as well.

About

Very dependable. I am a very caring person who likes what she does and delivers the kind of care and respect I would want from an employee.

About

I provide pet sitting services for dogs of all breeds and sizes. I am an owner of 6 Corgies myself and I have learned about how to take care of animals with every day that I spent caring for them. To me, caring for animals is not rocket science. It is a profession that requires you opening your heart so that you could truly feel and provide what the animals need. They do not have a way to talk so being sensitive and observant to their behavior is of utmost importance. Aside from dogs, I could also take care of rabbits. I can follow your schedule in feeding your pets, playing with them, cleaning their mess, and I could give them a delightful belly rub for you.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

How do I find a reliable house sitter?

House sitting can help keep your home safe and well cared for so you can be worry-free while you’re away for work or play. There are several steps you can take to make sure you hire a trustworthy house sitter and do your part to be a responsible host. One of the best ways to ensure a safe home is to hire a professional house sitter. Here are some key points to look for when hiring a house sitter:

  • Reviews and referrals: When searching for a house sitter, always read reviews. Previous experiences will indicate how the house sitter will care for your home while you’re away.
  • Contract: Sign a clearly written contract outlining services to be provided (e.g., mail in each day by 5 p.m.), the daily rate you are paying, and how long the services will be provided. You can also include any agreed-upon house rules in the written contract.
  • Your part: Leave important phone numbers (vet, emergency contact, etc.) and information on where to find emergency items like the circuit breaker and the fire extinguisher, and have a credit card on file with the veterinarian in case of emergencies if the house sitter is watching your pets.
